I noticed them on my PG Z today. There are a bunch on my hood, it almost looks like the clearcoat is bubbling in places. Has anyone actually gotten this issue "resolved" in any way? I guess I'll call my local dealer and see what they say. Really sucks, cause I just got it tinted and I was about to get a clear bra installed (already got a damn rock chip!).

I will keep you posted on this.I previously owned 2 350z s,but they were metallic silver/blue,no probs with them.P J T paul from uk:stirthepot:

I have a 09 Red Z (picked up in September) and I also noticed that bug splatters and/or water spots will etch the paint pretty easily if not removed right away. But I just recently put on some good wax (3M) that I've used before on my previous red cars, and its always worked well. So hopefully that helps. I also have quite a bit of orange peel in both bumpers which annoys me a bit... but the rest of the car looks good. Its just the bumpers that dont look the best.:shakes head:

Has anyone tried machine buffing (or even wet sanding) the bumpers to smooth out the clear coat a bit?

Greetings! Did you ever get your paint bubble issues resolved to your satisfaction?

He reviewed my file and everything that they have attempted to do to the car to fix this problem...he wanted to try to find an alternative to repainting the car since that would not be an ideal situation for any of us...

So, this Service Manager (who is now my hero) thought outside the "bay" and has come up with a way to fix it...he told me how and said a lot of "car" words that I didn't quite understand, but the section he tested looked good. So he thinks he may have my car (nice and shiny no purple dots) back to me by tomorrow!!!! OMG this would be fantastic!

If this truly does work the way I am hoping it will, I will get the details of what he did so I can let everyone know who might have similar issues~!

I am just so glad that I may not have to have my BRAND NEW car repainted!!!!:driving:

Red 370z here with near-zero paint issues. No bubbles, fades, or purple marks, but a little bit of orange peel on the rear bumper if you look hard enough. Garage kept and waxed regularly, but it's also my daily driver. I give it a good wipe down with a quick detailer after every drive.

I think that a car, regardless of color, won't fade if taken care of properly.

Just finished polishing mine with meguires swirl remover. Goodby scratches and blems. This was my first time using a power tool on the paint. Looks fantastic in the florida sun. 81 degrees today.

It sounds like Nissan actually has gone above and beyond trying to help, but unless you can choose one from the factory, there is only so much the dealership can do after trying to correct the problem.

Good luck with the paint issue, I hope it all gets resolved to your satisfaction.

HUH? Nissan is infamous about working their way out of warrenty things. Paint is bad , fix it, done deal. There should be no problems but Nissan doesnt work that way. All they have to do is pay for a new paint job. Bring a lemon law lawyer with you next time you meet with the guys. They are bringing their rep so bring yours.

NO PICS = NEVER HAPPENED .:icon23:

I had a 98 honda civic once apon a time that developed some light purple spots in the paint on the fender rolls on the front quarter panel. I'm not sure if its similar to whats being reported here since there are no pics to compare it to but it sounds similar. There were about 5 spots but the car was black in color.

After reading this I'm happy I got the MB. I had this issue before with red color cars, and red is my favorite color. The last issue I had the dealer claimed it was acid rain.

Didn't read thru the whole thread but I hope you resolved your issue!

09 platitum graphite spots

My 09 370 is also full of spots under the clear coat, already took it to my dealer and their body shop, someone from nissan HQ is going to look at it tomorrow. The only diference in my case is that i bought mine used with 3500k. We will see how they handle my case but I do not want a new car that its totally repainted

Blackbelt 06-28-2010 08:39 AM

Please let me know how that turns out. My spots are smaller than they were when I first noticed them last July which is when I bought it, and they only appear in the hot sun. Are yours there all the time or just on sunny days?

fullmonty 06-28-2010 09:34 AM

Epic bump. I'm glad I went with MB, as we seem to be having the fewest issues out of all of them. Mine was built in the first month of production and have 'knock on wood' no issues with the paint. There was a strange blemish on the hood that I took note of when I picked up the car, and the dealer tried to get it out with no luck, but it has since gone away.

PR370z 06-28-2010 10:50 AM

Nissan agreed to paint my entire car, I could not argue to get a new one because Im not the original owner. I dont think this is a especific color issue rather a process issue when the car gets painted. The spot are most noticeable when looking at the car in a angle and the sun not directly on the car. I would recommend all 2009 z owners to do a detailed check of their paint to make sure you dont have these before the warranty runs out
