Friend of mine just ordered his new Camaro SS from a dealer here in SoCal (4-5 month wait, WTF???) last weekend - no markup over MSRP (although no discount either).

To answer the OP's question: I bought my 370Z because I'd wanted one since my college roomate bought himself a brand new 280Z as a graduation present to himself years ago. The timing was finally right (my kids have their own vehicles now and I was in the market for a new car), so voila!
