Yep we pulled 1 quart. So we put in 5 /18 quart, let it idle for an 1 hour, and it burned 1/2 quart. So we drained the other 4 quarts and put a flashlight on it and it lit up like a christmas tree. So I may be getting new engine here. Might have to make some upgrades while the engine is out.

Still waiting to hear back from Nissan what the offical word is.... so till then

Did you get a low oil warning before it shut down?

m4a1mustang 08-11-2009 09:02 AM

That is wild. I got a little freaked out and checked my dipstick last night... I'm about 3/4 of the way to "H." So I'm guessing I burned off a little since my last change, just don't know how much... I haven't read anything on how to read oil levels on this dipstick. *embarassed*

FuszNissan 08-11-2009 09:02 AM

No and there is a built in code for that and light.

Let the car sit for atleast 20-30 minutes before checking. It sits right above an oil bypass(the dipstick)

It's just over 3000

Pushing_Tin 08-11-2009 09:04 AM

I wonder if Nissan is going to try and bust balls over the mods you have.

JB1 08-11-2009 09:04 AM

If Rick's ate 4 quarts but did not need a replacement engine, I guess you had less ten 1 left...

JB1 08-11-2009 09:05 AM

oops, guess my reaction was a tad slow.. :-)

Yeah, I let the car sit. I just want to know how I should interpret it. I/E if I'm 3/4 of the way between Low and High, how much should I add if I need to add any?

I'd be really interested in knowing how intake/exhaust can account for 1/2 a quart of oil/hour burnt... That and the lack of a low oil light make me quite suspicious.

I'll be going back to checking my oil regularly now...

Just read the online owner's manual and figured it out. :icon18:

There was oil coming out the exhuast, that's how bad it was burning oil. I have never seen this before, so it is interesting.
