Last weekend's trip to the Mountains....(Many pics!)....>

Every year my old Audi buddies have a get-together somewhere interesting. This year (again) we went to Snowshoe W.Va and stayed on the Mountain. Some of us have moved on to other cars, but we're all still friends and car junkies at heart. This was my 9th annual event with this group, 6 with my TT, 2 with the Vette, and one with the Z..We had some fun...

First off, for the first night we had to cordone off the "off brand" cars with Crime scene tape. Last year they turned my Corvette into a Pace Car with purple painters tape!

We got through the nite safely!

Not so lucky last year!

This guy was nearby just in case!

There is always someone who gets nailed though. Last year we shrink wrapped him!

Friday we did an Aqua Auto-X...Rained cats and dogs, but we had fun anyway:

At some points you couldn't see the end of the course! The starter guy needed an Umbrella!

Saturday the sun came out and we went on some scenic drives:

Breathing in a little mountain air!

My Kinda roads!

I dragged these guys along for a little frisky trip down Scenic Hwy 150.

In the evening there was a bit of drinking and bench racing going on:

Our "Brewmaster" always comes up with some interesting concoctions!

Saturday afternoon we did our group shot on the Mountain, had a great banquet Sat. nite, finished off the tub 'O Beer and headed home Sunday AM:

Damn the mtn looks different, last time I was there it was -10 and snowing! Looks like a great time. I was thinking to myself when I went up that it would be fun to drive the Z in nice weather.

frost 08-07-2009 07:47 PM

Took me a second to realize it was a bmw. Actually looks pretty similar to that red audi at a quick glance.

That Red Audi is an RS4.....420+ V8 AWD goodness owned by the guy on the left. Set best Auto-X time!
Guy in the middle was our Auto-X organizer...All 3 of them very fast!

Hey mod, I wonder how many other Z members we have here in the southeast. I'm not that far from you. It would be nice to organize a get together sometime down the road.

Some one should tell Clarkson from Top Gear, not one Stella amongst them. Oops, there was only one Z.

I was wondering where did the awesome signature pic came from. Great event. Seems like a lot of fun. I knew you're a highly respected individual in Audi community and now I have pictures to prove it! BTW, this is my fav pic

It all started on a Forum (Audiworld at the time). The first GTG was in PA where virtual friends actually met each other. Very informal, about 60 people showed up. Year 2 became more involved with the GTG at Asheville with drives to the dragon. That was by far the biggest at 130 cars. Over the years, People at the TT events came in from all parts of the country including Alaska. We're a pretty tight group. The TT events pale in comparison to the Mini GTG's that number 500+ cars (same location as Z days). It does take a lot of work and organization to pull off...

The group Photo at the Biltmore in '02. TT's as far as the eye can see!

Yea, I guess I was thinking something smaller along the lines of the recent one with your friends. There can't be that many of us (370Z members here) in the southeast right now.

We've done plenty of small events too, sometimes Impromptu like a fall dragon run etc. Sometimes we'll just do a shout-out, Be here this weekend, here's the hotel info, etc. I've got photo albums of about 30 car related GTG's we've done over the years if you want to cruise through them here: TT Events | Ttschwing | Fotki.com You'll notice one of those was in Charleston! (Beautiful town BTW!)

Ah yes, the Battery as the locals call it. It's a fun town, plenty of places to eat and get into trouble after hours :icon17:

Yeah...Probably very similar Mike...I think I'll have to go to that next year. There's lots of car groups that do something similar..I know the Boxsters have been having a Blue Ridge Parkway GTG for 7-8 years, or the Vette GTG at the Museum every year..Always fun to combine cars and friends in a neat locale...:-)

Since you are remembering many good times, my brother Michael (TT) said to say hi. My not be the place but I did order your DIY oiler cooler and will install soon. By the way my brother is now into Vettes.

Ah! You're Michael's brother! We just exchanged a few emails on this! Yes, we go WAY back in the TT community. I'm well aware of the Corvette connection as I had an '08 that I sold for the Z..

gpa7pk 08-08-2009 03:41 PM

Michael said to pay attention to your "mods" as you are always working on something to improve the current car of choice.

LOL...Yeah, I'm a Mod junkie...with a little Macguyver mixed in. Ironically, it created a business which, years later, still keeps me busy on the Audi stuff...;)

All the Z mods to date are here: 370Z stuff | Ttschwing | Fotki.com

BTW, Nice Triumph...I've got a bit of British in my past as well!
