That is kinda what i was thinking... I think the the Z time is from a stop.

one foot roll out maybe 4.9

Chuck33079 09-10-2013 10:45 AM

If those numbers are from the major auto magazines, they might be a little optimistic. Manufacturers always seem to give them the factory freaks, or just give them ringers to get the good numbers.

They all include rollout.

should be noted that the S60 R doesn't actually exist any more. it is now the "R design". doesn't denote any more power

Whats the source of those numbers? I typically use 0-60 Times | 0 to 60 MPH and Quarter Mile Times for Fast Sports Cars, Muscle Cars, Luxury Car Performance Stats & more! for a quick check. They list the 370 as 4.5s

Here's one for the list
2013 Porsche Caymen 0-60 mph: 5.4 s $52.6K Starting price

No offense to the OP, but this thread is kinda stupid. If you're gonna magazine race, go with 1/4 times and trap speeds....heck, even lap times (you even posted a pic of a tree at a drag strip for Christ sake). 0-60 times is for people who only pretend to know anything about cars. It's a bit childish to be honest.

Well if this isn't your flavor... perhaps $/hp is more of your liking?

And yes, saying this is stupid is offensive. :icon23:

what if i write the Z does 0-60 in 3.1 seconds on a piece of paper.... are we faster then??

ElVee 09-10-2013 12:22 PM

I use 0-60 times when comparing cars, though it's clearly not the end-all be-all statistic. I do have some personal criteria though.

- try to stick with the same source for times. Mags will run a car over and over in various ways until they get THE fastest time they can eke out of a run. That's the number they use. It might not be a practical number for most of us that don't drag. Every source runs differently and with different numbers. But as long as you're measuring with the same test, you can do some valid comparisons. (test road, test driver(s), conditions, altitude, stockness...)

- mag times aren't going to be times that I experience on the road. But it still does demonstrate straight line speed in a test. *shrug*

- It's not a "stupid" statistic. It's not the only statistic, but it's not a stupid one.

- I don't "race" my car, so it's not like I have firsthand times on hand, just like a large majority of drivers. I'll let someone else "race" the car and come back with times. Just because that happens, doesn't make the statistic "stupid."

5.1 is without rollout on 370Z (Edmonds). 1 foot rollout gets under 5 seconds.

I say no rollout. And I like citing one source vs cherry picking each magazine and manufacturer for best times.

It doesn't matter really. I've got a Z and it is what it is. Wonderful.

hayabusas are absolute garbage! take your chromed out, lowered, stretch, paper weight to the dump.

and my bone stock z has beat multiple 5.0 stangs.

Nope. The Edmunds site clearly states the 5.1 is will 1' rollout.

There are very few places that report 0-60 without rollout.

I could have swore the Z auto is 4.7

0-60 times vary dramatically depending on a huge variety of factors, and they're generally of very little value.

Every time a turn is involved I bet. I see them holding up traffic on winding roads nearly every day.

There are very few places that report 0-60 without rollout.

You are looking at the Nismo which is slower.
Non Nismo is located below, yes at 5.2 (not 5.1 as I said) standing and 4.9 with rollout.

Test Results:
0 - 30 (sec): 2.0
0 - 45 (sec): 3.5
0 - 60 (sec): 5.2
0 - 75 (sec): 7.6
1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 13.5 @ 103.7
0-60 with 1-ft Rollout (sec): 4.9

Never said they were.

Anyway, the auto Z is a sub 5 second car and it should be noted.

Mustang Driver Fail..
A 5.0 beats a 370z 9/10, especially a stock one. Even full bolt on Z would have a hard time hanging..

Everytime I have been to the track, or watched videos, 5.0's are pullin HARD.

No, the brand spanking new ones. This is on a winding mountain road where they hold up SUV's and vans too. Not off the line where they absolutely shine.

I'd love to report the opposite. If it ever happens I will but even my Mustang buddy who stayed at my place two weeks, depressingly noted the same thing.

If they're holding up SUVs and vans, it doesn't sound like a car issue.
