What are your thoughts on super slammed 370z out there.

Talking about the ones with the wheels sticking out of the fenders by a few inches and at a angle. Mainly did a search on instagram and saw a lot of them out there. I wonder if any of those owners are on this forum. :ugh:

i personally don't like it.

kenchan 08-29-2013 03:44 PM

you mean like the illest fatlace canibeat hellaflush crowd?

my car doesnt look like that. :icon17:

theDreamer 08-29-2013 03:47 PM

A few are on here: http://www.the370z.com/brakes-suspen...cs-please.html

fonzo179 08-29-2013 03:47 PM

Can't meaningfully comment because I don't instagram (is it a bird or food or something :icon17:... kidding) but by your description, that sounds a bit excessive. I like a lowered Z, but not all uber-stanced out.
In the end, it's to each their own IMO.

:iagree: they can ride as low as they want as long as they dont slow up traffic.

i think some of them look pretty good as static models, but would drive terribly around town.

Meulen 08-29-2013 03:51 PM

Personally, it's not something I would do. But, I'm not sure why we can't respect the creativity and work that goes into a car as an extension of one's own personality.

kenchan 08-29-2013 03:54 PM

creativity and expression. indeed. not bad, meulen!

There are many out there that are done right. Once again, their form of expression and taste. Nothing wrong with it. Lot's of them look good and a lot of people like it as well. Not sure what your intentions are with this post but if you are looking for those who share your thoughts, I'm sure you'll find them but let's not flog members who set theirs up in a way you disagree with. So what if some of them are in this forum?

coolvans1988 08-29-2013 04:04 PM

Just being curious.
Meulen yeah I understand about their personal taste and all, does that go the same for the people that add autozone decals? lol

Kenchen, seems like they go based on looks vs preformance on a sports car.

wstar 08-29-2013 04:05 PM

Do you respect the creativity and work of this guy? Do you think it reflects well on his personality?

http://www.the370z.com/members/wstar...chu-rice-3.jpg

This reminds me of those silly 4AM half-drunk pseudo-philosophical conversations you have at Denny's when you're like 23 about supposedly-unanswered questions like, "What is or isn't Art?". There's such a thing as taste. The car above isn't art, it's tasteless and silly. If you want to argue 23-year-old-philosophy about the subject, try Denny's, but at the end of the day you won't convince me the above car isn't tasteless and silly. When I see a Z sitting on the ground with wheels sticking out at funny angles, it reminds me of cars like the one pictured above.

Somehow some aspects of racecars became cool to emulate, and then the emulation got ridiculous because it was disconnected from the reality. By following a trend that's very indirectly emulating a racecar, people do things to their cars that actually make them handle worse than stock, or make them ridiculously unsafe and/or unreliable. There's no redeeming value in that.

I like it! I think it looks sick.
But personally….

1. I can’t afford to buy tires like they do.
2. I’m to anal to not care about scrapes.
3. My Z sleeps indoor would never make it up my drive way.
4. I’m all about performance so taking turns, smashing out. I got to be able to maneuver.

But I think it looks awesome!

yah, i dont go around bashing people for their slammed rides. i think some of them do look good, but i know for a fact they dont ride well.

ive spoken to many younger folks into that stuff in my area and they've told me 'how they hate how it rides, but it looks so damn cool.'

gotta give them something for that i guess. :icon17:

Pretty much what wstar said.

JungleZ 08-29-2013 04:28 PM

Hellaflush is horrible keep that crap for Lexus VIP cars or vw.

The ride quality isn't too bad. It really depends on the spring rate, but most of the times Coilovers with the defualt spring rates are used.

My last car was less than 2 inches off the ground and i got around pretty easy, though i do live South Florida where the streets are decent (except downtown).

I've learned to respect all types of cars, muscle, JDM, Euro, raised trucks, loud *** hondas, etc.

Osiris 08-29-2013 05:25 PM

somehow mine made it to StanceNation's Instagram as well as their Facebook lol. But i'm not slammed, just sitting on Swifts.

Dwight Frye 08-29-2013 05:29 PM

They look ludicrous.

Kind of look like this to me.

Highway 08-29-2013 06:53 PM

I'm not even close to being that low and still have tons of issues. I've got no clue how they drive around like that. The exhaust is my lowest point and it's about 3-1/4" off of the ground and still scrapes all of the time.

Elan 08-29-2013 11:58 PM

I think it's ricey but that's just my opinion. Some people can hate on what I drive too. That's fine but as long as the owner is happy.

///PureSwank 08-30-2013 12:23 AM

Its really a culture that's out there. Especially out in california. Thats where most of these hellaflushed slammed imports started out. A unique culture.

Some of my buddies are into that crap. I'm not. I think it looks ugly 90% of the time. However, on a Z..especially 370z..I shed a tear when I see a slammed Z, its ugly af.
I'm like noooo why ?!?!?!?!?!?!

paperboy42190 08-30-2013 03:21 AM

I like to see functional cars, but hey thats just me

rAiN 08-30-2013 03:42 AM

I wish I can jump on this convo but I can't since my z is pretty slammed.

raymondo510 08-30-2013 03:50 AM

My car is pretty low, I scrape my front spoiler thing on the daily and occasionally my exhaust(hurts every time) but I could never do the whole stretched tire and extreme camber look

I don't understand why people torture themselves with having such a low car. I scrape maybe once a month and that bothers me enough to get out and make sure it's ok. I couldn't imagine doing it on a daily basis.

///PureSwank 08-30-2013 04:47 AM

Mine is low but not slammed. This is slammed.

Stupid.

I always want to take those cars for a 10 second ride and bring back destroyed fenders, wheels and tries

GaleForce 08-30-2013 08:05 AM

Most of these uber slammed cars are that way for the show scene.

I'm at a crossroads where I love the functionality of my car as it sits now but will need to go with an air ride system if I want to go further with the show scene. :ugh2:

2011 Nismo#91 08-30-2013 08:21 AM

To me it just seems wrong. I can't even imagine how terrible they would be to drive. They are more works of art then cars.

There's such thing as too low and too stanced.

Lowered yes, Slammed No!!

Mt Tam I am 08-30-2013 10:04 AM

I have two degrees of camber so as to preserve the outer edge of my tires* as well as improving handling. What are they doing?

* and they are always smooth first anyway.

damian_mb 08-30-2013 11:40 AM

I love it but not something for me because our streets are crappy here. I've seen a few around MN but with all the potholes and manholes not worth it. Almost slammed and everytime my exhaust scraps I cringe!

Wife never wants to ride in my car because everytime my echaust scraps, she yells at me for making my car too low. :)

forza370z 08-30-2013 12:40 PM

In your eyes it might be ugly, but for others they are awesome. It's all personal taste. No need to bash on them. If you don't like it, don't follow it. Simple as it is.

yep, just drop a gear and pass them.

Zteve 08-30-2013 01:38 PM

love hearing the SCRATCHHHHH noise they make when they try to go over a speed bump or into a driveway with even the slightest incline to it. never saw why anyone would want to take a sports car meant to be driven and turn it into a POS. oh yeah, just so they can say "it looks good"

:shakes head: pathetic. go rice out a honduh if you want to do crap like that, those cars are made for that stuff

kenchan 08-30-2013 01:41 PM

it's quite entertaining watching sparks fly out from the back at night on the expressway over bumps and dips. :icon17: and they appear to be having a great time, so good for them! :D
