Selecting springs help please
 

I want to lower my Z since installed 20s. The fronts are 245/40 rear 285/35.
I want something basic just to have a drop to close the gap.
Any rocommendations on how much of a drop? What name brand would you recommend. I don't care how stiff it is.

Feel free to post a pic of your ride with a drop and please include some info as how much paid, how much of a drop, brand and if you are pleased with it.

H&R will give you the most "drop". I use them do DDing and I love them, fitment looks near perfect but still gives you a little cushion room.

All you need to know with the springs is this. If you want to go the lowest possible with springs then get H&R. Swift is highly recommended as the best for the Z but if you want no gap you will not get there with them. I can still get about 2 fingers between my tires and fender. Swifts are 1.25" FR and 1" RR if I recall correctly. The H&R's are 1.3" FR and 1" RR but other members have shown that these settle alot more and the drop is more significant. Check with our vendors to get the best pricing. Lots of threads on this to see pics to help you decide.

OP, go with swifts. thats what i'm on. Love the ride.

I have H&Rs and am very happy with them - both stance and performance. I daily drive my car and have had them on for about a week (maybe 50 miles). To me they ride quite a bit like the stock springs. Maybe a tiny bit more cushiony/bouncy while cruising on the highway (the bumps are still felt, but it's a softer bounce vs the jarring jolt previously felt). When pushing it in the twisties the ride is very tight and firm (I also have Hotchkis sways and installed SPL endlinks at the time of spring install).

I love the stance already and expect it to settle down a bit more as I put more miles on them. I've only scraped my exhaust when crawling over really high speed bumps, and just grazed the black lip under the front spoiler while normal driving into inclined parking lots. And my Greddy exhaust sits a lot lower than stock.

I'm on 19s with stretched 35 profile in the front and 30s in the back so you should sit about 1/2 inch higher off the ground if you run 20s without a stretch.

Like I said, I'm very happy with my choice and wouldn't switch (although I've never ridden on Swifts) unless I wanted coil overs to go even lower or to track the car often. But honestly I don't think you could go wrong with either choice.

I would have to disagree with H&R dropping the car the lowest. A member here has ARK gt-s springs and they slam your car. I know you are not going for that look but if you want a moderate drop with great performance you can't go wrong with Swifts.

I don't think I would call the ARK's a spring that will slam the car. My friend Jason just installed them on his new Nismo. Seen it in person. I think they have the lowest drop but it is only like a 10th or 2 lower than the last lowest dropping spring. Maybe your definition of slammed is different than mine. It is something that you could daily and get around 99% of the places with only very minimal scraping here and there.

I got TEIN'S and the drop is compare to the Swifts. I'm happy with them.

Such a beautiful car. I hope it still looks like this! I want those EVO-R side skirts, bad! I have ARK GT-S springs on mine.

Just from my own personal experience. I bought new rims and swifts and had them installed professionally. Once done the car was noticeably lower but not too drastic. Once I took the car out if I hit any bumps at all not even big ones, the tires would scrape the fender liner, and also hit hard on full lock turns. This drove me absolutely crazy. I wound up going with adjustable coilovers and springs from h and r and now im lower, without any scrape. Just my two cents from my experience. Wish I had just bought coilovers and toe bolts etc before I had all that installed to just have it removed.
