I'm an idiot. I broke my 370 two months in. Please don't laugh.
Oh guys. Bad night.
Driving home with a buddy and decided to show him how cool my car was. Of course that was a mistake, because while my car may be cool, it reacts badly to an idiot behind the wheel (me). Took a left turn slow then nailed it with (please don't laugh at me) traction off. Went way wide, way fast. Got off the gas too fast, snapped the other way too fast, lost it. Went over the median sideways. Damage report: Two driver side airbags deployed (I have no idea why, I just hit a median with my wheels). One of those airbags is inside the seat lining, so the seat is all torn apart. Crunched Rays rear rim (not salvageable) Rear wheel is bent about 10 degrees inwards at the bottom No body or underside damage as far as i can tell I think that's it. Will this cost me my life's savings? Now I am going to go to sit in a corner in a fetal position while rocking back and forth, crying and sucking my thumb. |
omg! O.O
Any pics?? |
No. I was too upset to take pics. Dude, I had to suffer the indignity of having my 18 year old son come to pick me up after the tow truck took baby away. He put his arm around me and lectured me about cautious driving.

Please remove that emoticon. That is not freaking funny. Some people have no empathy.

You must have stomped that pedal hard. Every now and then I pull a power slide just for fun but you gotta try small ones first.
We can't tell you how much it will cost because there arent any pics but the cost of airbags won't be cheap at all. |
Showing off gone wrong. Sucks but at least you're not hurt. I suggest next time you learn how your car reacts at it's limit on a track.

I was kidding about your emoticon Bad Cop. But I am a big baby.
|
The thread is going nowhere with no pics. Might as well delete it.

You should take it to an alignment shop to check how bad it actually is. It might be embarrassing but just say it was because of the weather. Then take it from there. |

Your car is totaled, congrats
If you haven't filed a claim, your insurance shouldn't go up. And if your insurance doesn't total it, you need a new insurance company, because airbags out means totaled to me! If YOU decide to pay for it out of pocket, you can get stitching out in that will rebreak open if the airbags come out again (any upholsterer worth his weight in air should be able to do that) and the track guys should have airbags for cheap. |

I would assume that if airbags deployed = automatic totaled?
Although, I'm not 100% certain. |

VDC can't strike again if it's OFF.
SS_Firehawk It appears to be a 2011 Touring. But I get it OP.....you were watching the X Games and decided to go all Ken Block Gymkhana style for your friend....you got to watch out for the obstacles though. |

I think a majority of time that is the case. I still wanna see pics of the car though. |

OP: This is too much. Older driver showing off, son retrieves and chastises dad, VDC off, then tells us on the forum for a bunch of incompassionate a-holes to criticize . Are you pitching us a sit com.
I am sorry for your story. I hope it is salvageable. |
