Quite right, I'll get the estimate for repairs and then compare against what the increase in car insurance would be for a claim. There was no traffic violation associated with the accident... Best advice so far.

You are a hard, cold person.

I just want to help out a fellow Canadian. Anyways, the worst part about all of this are the airbags and suspension (control arms, bushings, bearings, tie rods and end links to name some).

You should take it to an alignment shop to check how bad it actually is. It might be embarrassing but just say it was because of the weather. Then take it from there.

Excellent advice. Many thanks eh!

I left a bike on my roof rack once, pulled into garage :shakes head: bike popped out of the rack and hit my roof. $1400 estimate. After $500 deductible and $900 in my pocket I'm sure I bought car parts haha. It wasn't bad enough to get fixed. My premium went up $40 a half for 3 years. For only $240 out of my pocket I'd do it again. Buy used, fix what you want, and I see some nice mods in your future since OEM stuff from nissan costs a fortune!

Your car is totaled, congrats
If you haven't filed a claim, your insurance shouldn't go up.

And if your insurance doesn't total it, you need a new insurance company, because airbags out means totaled to me!

If YOU decide to pay for it out of pocket, you can get stitching out in that will rebreak open if the airbags come out again (any upholsterer worth his weight in air should be able to do that) and the track guys should have airbags for cheap.

Op,

Glad to hear your OKay!

:iagree:

I would assume that if airbags deployed = automatic totaled?

Although, I'm not 100% certain.

Oh guys. Bad night.

Driving home with a buddy and decided to show him how cool my car was. Of course that was a mistake, because while my car may be cool, it reacts badly to an idiot behind the wheel (me).

Took a left turn slow then nailed it with (please don't laugh at me) traction off. Went way wide, way fast. Got off the gas too fast, snapped the other way too fast, lost it. Went over the median sideways.

Damage report:

Two driver side airbags deployed (I have no idea why, I just hit a median with my wheels). One of those airbags is inside the seat lining, so the seat is all torn apart.
Crunched Rays rear rim (not salvageable)
Rear wheel is bent about 10 degrees inwards at the bottom
No body or underside damage as far as i can tell

I think that's it.

Will this cost me my life's savings?

Now I am going to go to sit in a corner in a fetal position while rocking back and forth, crying and sucking my thumb.

That darned VDC has struck again!!!!!

At least you are ok. This is the second Z accident I have woken up to this morning. :(

Drive safe people!!!

VDC can't strike again if it's OFF.

SS_Firehawk It appears to be a 2011 Touring.

But I get it OP.....you were watching the X Games and decided to go all Ken Block Gymkhana style for your friend....you got to watch out for the obstacles though.
