New Owner, Sports Rays Stolen

Hello all, I'm new to the forum...

Well.. I can't believe my first thread in this forum has to start like this.

Me and my fiance bought 2013 370Z Touring+Sport for my fiance's car and as for our weekend car. (She doesn't drive much)

It has been about 4 weeks since we got the car.

Last Sunday, I came out to take trash out around 7AM, and noticed Z was vandalized and Sport Rays were gone.:shakes head:

Last time I checked my car was around 3AM, so... it had to be between 3AM to 7AM.

Well.. insurance is covering it, but damage has been done and my fiance is still in shock as she has never been in this kind of situation.
To add even more stress to this situation, when I called police, first thing they asked was "Do you know who stole your rims?" Seriously????:shakes head:

Hopefully this stops and these thieves seriously need to think about how people work their tale off to afford good cars.....

I really hope rim theft stops... sigh...

Sorry for this being my first post in this community

btw this happened in Hayward CA, a GATED apartment...

DEpointfive0 07-31-2013 05:34 PM

Sorry... Btw, DO NOT rebuy factory tires, get Michelin Pilot Super Sports

accchoi 07-31-2013 05:35 PM

wish I could.. my Farmers insurance does not want me to buy anything other than stock. My adjuster knew exactly what tire it came with...

Jasonle 07-31-2013 05:36 PM

That sucks man..:(

Tell them to cut you a check and buy the tires you want... That's BULLSHÌT... If PSSs cost more than Potenzas, sure, pay the difference... But don't let them BS you into that.

Hell, if you want aftermarket wheels, but them. They just need to pay you for stock replacements

A car like this needs a garage. Certain cars are like children you have to keep an eye out on them at all times. To many predators. Stand your ground law. You’re not the first victim to get the wheels off the Z stolen. But perhaps the 1st off a 2013. Sorry for your troubles. Get a tilt motion alarm.

axmea? 07-31-2013 05:47 PM

Sorry to hear. DE.50 is right. Get the check instead if you can swing it so you can buy what you want. Then get an alarm with tilt sensor.

check craigslist in your area. i can't imagine there are that many '13+ sport rays for sale anywhere.

Yup. Ask the seller about the car it came from and if they cannot show or say, they're you suspects. Too bad hard to prove unless it was a unique set of wheels or have some serial # or markings.

I've been checking since Sunday morning. No show.

Spoke with guys at dealership and wheel stores.. they basically told me thieves will most likely ship those to LA to sell it. sigh

Sorry about that. Does your apartment have any security patrols or cameras? I would raise some concern with your landlord about this. It is a ****** up country we live in that things like this happen. Why can't everyone be as nice as Canadians?

THIS

also try getting aftermarket rims if you can, some BBS rims would look nice on a 370z

Trying to get Supersports...

maybe my adjuster would be ok if I cover the difference in cost if there is any

I guess this could actually happen.

My adjuster will send me a check minus deductible for the quote I got from the dealer. That means I can order tire I want! :happydance:

Your comprehensive doesn't cover it (so you don't have to pay the deductible)

And make sure they pay you appropriately. Sport wheels are something stupid like $600/wheel

:shakes head: I can't believe people are stealing stock wheels

Dwight Frye 07-31-2013 06:51 PM

And spend some out of pocket money for wheel locks. They won't totally stop a thief but I'll bet they wouldn't have tried it in your driveway.

accchoi, good to hear you can get the tires you want.

DEpointfive0, In my policy, my comprehensive portion still has a deductible but it's 1/2 of my collision.

Well...all he'd have to do is get the wheels and the car within range of the TPMS. If they connect, then that's one way to prove the wheels came from his car.

Yeah, but I DOUBT he's just going to wait for a set of wheels to come on sale and bring them close enough his car

Pffftt - details, details. :rofl2:

I didn't intend for my reply to be taken too seriously. Although it's plausible, I didn't expect him to follow through with the idea. :)

Z-Girl 12 07-31-2013 07:30 PM

totally sucks...sorry to hear

All I have to pay is my deductible and others are now being covered by insurance.

Total, after tax, it was little less than $5000 for wheel, tire, pressure monitor, lug nuts, centercaps

critical 07-31-2013 07:51 PM

sucks but you can get better wheels and tires. don't let your insurance dictate anything to you.

kenchan 07-31-2013 07:56 PM

Sorry to hear op. Hope you get replacements soon.

I'm surprised to hear your insurance won't cut you a check.

They are cutting me a check. Just whatever that I submit to them, but they want me to get OEMs.

I happen to like sports rays that came with the car, I want OEMs back on it. just different tire, which my adjuster is willing to change out for me.

So, I guess I'm good, just my car is sitting duck until wheels come in, which is probably early next week.

$5000 is A LOT,
Contact me for lug nuts if you decide to go OEM wheels (although you shouldn't)

That was according to dealer OEM price.

Per my adjuster, price they had was around $900 per wheel w/o caps, TPMS and tires.

I'm having my dealer inspect it once the wheel goes on. And that is being covered by insurance as well.

kenchan 07-31-2013 08:17 PM

Damn, you can almost get new Nismo wheels and tires.

DEpointfive0 07-31-2013 08:19 PM

Sorry... OP, you gotta be retarded to buy OEM wheels... Buy me some TE37's from here on the forum, I'll send you some MINT 2013 wheels and $500 on top

 hey now, Nismo wheels are awesome. I like them better than TE37's.

Dang that sucks bro.
What did they leave your car on?
Any damage done underneath?

I don't like TE37s, I like the sport rays MOST of all, but if my insurance cut me a check, I wouldn't be buying factory wheels FROM THE DEALERSHIT

hahaha

I'm kinda stuck on OEM wheel. I like it, and my adjuster wants to see a invoice from dealer, AND part# associated with VIN#:shakes head:

I see some crease damaged by boxes that car was sitting on.

I guess I'll try to repair, but not that noticeable from my point of view.
