2013 Z differences.

Since I've owned my 13 Z I've been noticing a lot of differences. I just wanted a place to put them and for people to add or ask questions if something's changed and ill try to find it out for you. So far I have found...

1. The fuel gauge cluster is black and not grey.
2. There is no rear exhaust hanger on the drivers side in between the mid pipe hanger and the muffler hanger.
3. The front brake lines do not have 2 brass blocks for metal lines to screw into. The line going to the caliper is like the line on the firewall with a metal retaining clip.
4. You can kill the battery and ECU and the windows will roll back up without you having to do anything.
5. Front bumper difference with LEDs... Obviously
6. Rear fog light is red while in previous years they have been tinted grey.
7. Sport wheels are different shape and a light gun metal color instead of bright silver. The rear wheel and tire weighed 53.5lbs. I didn't get to weigh the front but they both might be heavier than older years.
8. Sport red brake calipers.
9. Different radiator over flow bottle with a metal locking radiator cap like the radiator.
10. Modified evap heat shield.

Ill add more later...

nice!!!

Here are some more differences... correct me if I am wrong.

1.Front bumper difference with LEDs... Obiviously
2.Rear fog light is red while in previous years they have been tinted grey.

the Sport Package wheels looks better lol! and the Nissan Sports Brakes comes in red!

The radiator overflow bottle is different.

The washer bottle is smaller (I had the front fascia off over the weekend for installing my Stillen Gen 3 intakes)

peleincubus 07-15-2013 11:06 AM

2013??? I want to know about the 2014 model haha

So you don't have to alter anything to install the intake anymore with the 2013??

You still need to cut the ducts a bit to get the tubes through the radiator support.

I'm actually kind of surprised no one has tried to work out a swap yet.

Someone out there with a '13 front would rather have a '12 - '09 front and vice versa...

cooltoy 07-15-2013 12:13 PM

The washer fluid bottle will get in the way of the DRL's, but that can be fixed.

Yes the 2013 bumper will fit on older models. I have an 09 and i put the new bumper on. It's really expensive. Each Led is over $600. I get 30% percent off at nissan, so it wasn't too bad. The only modding necessary was the the washer fluid tank. The passenger side LED hits the tank. I had my guys melt the tank down and mold it to the Back of the LED.

carlitos_370z 07-15-2013 12:39 PM

I would like to know if the Seibon GT front lip fit my 2013 Z front bumper lol!!! I love the look of that front lip.... remember my 2005 Sti Varis Front lip :(

probably, not sure. there was a guy mentioned you can just pull on it and the tabs let loose, and you can completely remove that piece from the cluster to paint.

Painting it is not an option IMO. I can't paint it to look as good as factory. I would either have to do it by hand (probably not the best idea) or mask off the tiny amber colored portions and spray it (which would be very difficult and probably not very precise as well as high potential to screw up the paint finish during removal of the tape).

I think he was responding to my question about the different colors of the gauge display (not the entire front bumper). But with regard to the front bumper, I might... I really like the fangs :yum:

kenchan 07-15-2013 02:53 PM

Ugg, hate wires!! Not my cup of tea.

ShutokuZ 07-15-2013 05:10 PM

I wish I could have both, the DRL/LEDs and the fangs!

tWeEzY 07-15-2013 09:11 PM

The clutch on the 13s seemed softer to me. This was in the show room. I didnt want to drive it

Mine was really stiff. A trip to the strip seems to have lightened it up.

ShutokuZ 07-15-2013 11:01 PM

I prefer stiff clutches and my 13 cluch feels pretty stiff. I would love to put a ACT HDSS in it though!

/\ what was the resolution regarding the Z1 stainless brake lines not being plug and play for the '13's with the akebono's?

I have a '13 Nismo and will be upgrading the lines again like on my last one ('10 model) but I will wait until z1, forged etc redesign their lines to work with the new Z's.

Then again, the '13 nismos have upgraded hard rubber lines stock ala the GTRs so with my luck, they'll be different than everyone else's still.

It's been a month, was told by Z1 last Friday they were shipping the revised fronts. No tracking or anything so I guess we'll see. I think however he's just sending the one line. So ill have a line and a brass block left over that's gonna collect dust. If you order online he told me you can click 2013 now.

Take a pic, I can tell what you'll need.

I'm very curious if the car got a revised fuel pump setup for sweeping right handers and fuel cut off. I wonder how I can figure that out?!

I would bet not honestly, but an easy way is get down to a half a tank and go take an on ramp aggressively with sweeping right hand turn.

If they haven't addressed this thus far , (shame on you Nissan ), I seriously doubt they will ever for the Z34, hopefully for the next gen Z it won't be an issue.

yeah that would require an engineer somewhere along the line to admit that they F'ed up and for engineers in general that is a very hard thing to do, at least from what i've noticed :rofl2:

Unfortunately we don't have any high-speed sweeping turns, but I've taken some 90 degree right-handers quickly without issue (shut up, JAR), even at two-three dots.
