Sad Day Today :(

So its been three weeks since I have last driven my car. Today morning when I went to go check if the car was still running fine I noticed huge key marks on both sides. I'll have pics uploaded when I get the chance but so sad and needed to vent. I live in an apartment, and parked it in the visitor/residents section. I believe the culprit might be a tenant but unfortunately there are no security cameras in that area...

Anyone know where to get a good paint job in SoCal?

DEpointfive0 07-04-2013 01:14 PM

Damn, sorry!!!
If its not into the paint and only in the clear it's an "easy" fix

Fountainhead 07-04-2013 01:15 PM

So sorry to hear that. People are so mean sometimes. Just because they can't have it they want to hurt you because you do and they don't.
Don't let them get you down.

Happy 4th!

Unfortunately it did, I think it also dented the car during the process. I'm at work but i'll try to upload some pics after I get home.

red2010z 07-04-2013 01:25 PM

Had this happen to one of my cars last year. Sorta upsetting. I had to remove the decals and park it in a different area after spending the money to get it repainted. Sorry man!

kenchan 07-04-2013 01:28 PM

sucks. :( is there a parking structure for just tenants you can park at least? it's going to happen again.

w0rM 07-04-2013 01:44 PM

I hope someone stabs them in the face.

This is one of the main reasons I finally bought a house. Sh!t like that is always going to happen in apartments.

:ugh2: yea guys, but not everybody can do that...sigh. Hopefully he can find a safer place w cameras and security lights.

I'm sorry for your troubles...haters. Mean people suck.

w0rM 07-04-2013 02:12 PM

Buying a house is easy these days. I wish I had looked into it more seriously sooner. FHA has loans where don't even need any money down. I would have bought a house 10 years ago if had known how easy it was going to be.

Yeah but everyone doesn't have the credit or a good credit history etc etc to qualify.... Heck I know other Pilots that I fly with that just rather let it be someone else's headache when sh*t breaks/goes wrong etc....:driving:

Jasonle 07-04-2013 02:28 PM

Totally. Not a huge fan of FHA loans but it does help those who want to own. I'm more of a conventional guy, 20% down to avoid mortgage insurance and to opt out of tax escrow.

That sucks OP. My Z is garaged but I'm still paranoid sometimes leaving it in busy lots when I take it out

WAGAWAGA 07-04-2013 02:32 PM

For now I parked it at my designated spot which is gated. But honestly anyone who is visiting can get to any of the residents cars if they wanted to. I got a call from the manager saying another tenant got the same ordeal... He was parked in the same area.

I feel like it must be other people in the building who are mad that we took up the visitor/resident spots for a long time. Many people have more than 1 car but are only allowed 1 designated spot.

who knows, maybe it will be a good deterrent :icon17:

b15 07-04-2013 02:33 PM

In your case I would always leave the Z in the dedicated spot.

WAGAWAGA 07-04-2013 02:38 PM

^ Yes that is what I plan on doing from now on.

Tigger 07-04-2013 02:39 PM

Sucks to hear. Seems to be happening a lot lately and people will always hate you for owning it.

And with the apartment thing, just make sure to get a place with garages available. That's what I'm doing to remedy that issue soon as I now rent with roommates in a condo. We have our own driveway so it isn't a bad thing but still leave it exposed to the "threats."

Houses are great and all but the total expense is so high that after 30 years (if you keep it 30 years) the costs maintenance and upkeep will make it that if I were to simply rent and put that other money into investment funds I could be living rent free after 10 years (such as the return on investments will offset my rental costs). There's a thousand ways to argue each side so before we jump way off topic... just get a place with a garage available. ;)

Anyway. Hope it all gets fixed. Take care and have a wonderful Independence Day!

I hear ya... every area is different. Personally, I wouldn't want to live in a place where I couldn't afford the housing. Just my 2 cents.

Yep, that's always a better way to go if you can afford it.

Z-Girl 12 07-04-2013 08:58 PM

Oh my goodness that is just sickening...I don't even think I'd fix that. Because if I paid to get it repainted then they do it again I would lose my mind.

red z 07-04-2013 09:11 PM

someone would be dead.

FairladyZ10PG 07-04-2013 09:53 PM

So sorry man. My heart aches just seeing the pictures. Front fenders, doors, and rear fenders... on both sides....wow I don't know what to say... Looks like you'll have to repaint the whole car.

w0rM 07-04-2013 10:06 PM

OMG... that just makes me sick. :(

Yeahhhhh... I'm so sorry to see that brother... Thank god at least YOU are safe?

Just make sure you go to THE MOST expensive place with the BEST warranty on the paint and work when you get it repainted

To look at the positive:
Maybe get a body kit now since painting will be on the house?

mayday813 07-04-2013 10:09 PM

Turn a claim into your insurance company. I think that your comprehensive coverage will cover this type of loss. I fear you're going to have significant damages due to the fact that almost every panel was keyed.

MightyBobo 07-04-2013 11:12 PM

Any way to install a security camera that can keep an eye on the parking area?

w0rM 07-04-2013 11:25 PM

You know what you need... a Dash Cam. rAiN is selling this really sweet model that has a motion sensor and will record any activity around your car. It's not going to stop them but it might help you catch them.

$250 shipped... hellva deal...

If he wants to turn it into insurance, he will need to make a police report for vandalism.

^this is a great idea. It's almost mandatory in S. Korea to have one. But I've heard someone say it's illegal here in the states. Invasion of privacy or something. Don't know for sure though.
