Not familiar with the Z's need some help spending money!

I am a true modder from the Cobra scene and I am not familiar with the mods for these and I am tuning in here to see if you guys are a help. Most of us modders stick tight as we all need help from each other. This is the deal. I am looking into getting my father in law in an intake and a programmer that can give him a few extra hp. Then on to the exhaust. First of all I was looking at the K&N typhoon here and then the Stillen. Looks to me like the K&N is a lot easier install. Is it a pretty close hp gain between the two? Also, the only programmer I saw here for a quick in the box tune was the Bully Dog. Any others you would recommend? Thanks for any help you can give me. Yes I have looked around for a while to see what is there.

Search is your friend...
Sorry brother

I have never heard of the bully dog... I'm assuming by programmer you mean an ECU tune. UpRev is currently the most popular solution. ECUtek has yet to prove themselves on the 370z but seem to be very promising.

Do a search on the forums before making new threads. All of your questions have been asked and answered a dozen times in the last 4 years.

The big question is that depending on the mods the dealer or nissan could void the warranty should problems arise either directly or indirectly to the mods you have done.

Also performance gains from the aftermarket CAI and exhaust are really minimal in gains and never really felt unless you were to race the car at the drag strip or road race it.

Your car already has factory CAI stock that work really good.

Thank you for an answer. I cannot stand it when people say to search and write out a lengthy answer to not answer anything. I did search but did not find what I was looking for. I am trying to help out my father in law with "his" car. I am not familar with them.

tuning: Uprev has been around for awhile with good reliable an safe results. Ecutek is new and just coming online now.

intake: stock is a cai of sorts. Post maf tubes and k&n drop in filters a re agreat economical choice. Or, spend more $$$ for a little more power and get the stillen G3's or the newish AAM comp s line/r line cai (that's where I'm leaning towards at this time.

exhaust: Fast Intentions is a great choice. also some other if you search you'll find info. I've run the FI exhaust on my last nismo and it's a great piece with excellent welds etc.

A little more pep. I just want to give him a little more power to get the feel of it.

Well skip the CAI and get the exhaust/headers.

I have the typhoon and I am 90% tempted to install the OEM CAI and install HFC's

Stillen CAI gives it a nice sound, very little if any HP gain and only at high RPMs.

Berk technology makes a catback and high flow cat combo that has been shown to give a good HP bump. From what I am told its the highflow cats that give it the biggest part of the gains. I love the sound of this exhaust as well. It's quiet at low RPMs/street driving, and sounds very good when at the track and running at higher RPM's. I will buy mine if they ever come back in stock :)

Don't do headers unless you can do the install yourself. Labor is >$600.00 because the headers are not an easy swap.

You have suggestions on brand for exhaust and headers? So I get it there is a PITA bolt on there.....I can do installs myself. Thanks again for the inputs here. I am the newb on here but just need some guidance to what is working for you guys as of late.
