To clutch or not to clutch

Getting married...fiance found a really nice place to hold the wedding and have a nice small ceremony.

Joe@Zspeed has hooked me up with a great deal on a full clutch replacement and I have thrown in a bunch of upgrades as well that I want to do at the same time.

Wedding cost - 2200
Clutch/upgrades - 2400

Oh what ever shall I do....

:happydance:

Chuck33079 06-11-2013 07:34 AM

Go for the wedding. You'll never ever work your way off her **** list if you blow more than the cost of the wedding on car parts right now. Or go fry your clutch. It's easier to justify fixing something than upgrading something.

MarkGideon 06-11-2013 07:36 AM

Tell her you are a firm believer in tradition, and traditionally the bride's family covers the wedding cost. Go for the car upgrades.

I agree with both comments above, and thank The Lord that you're getting away with a $2400 wedding!!!

Man I was thinking the same thing. OP should be lucky that his wedding is only the price of a clutch job. I thought I did good at 6x that amount. We shouldn't have to say this but definitely pay for the wedding.

:ughdance:

SAmilitaryman 06-11-2013 08:47 AM

We so need a sarcasm emote haha.

Of course i'm going to do the wedding. I really like giving her crap about it though. This morning I left her a note when i came to work saying we needed to push the wedding back two months because I had ordered my clutch instead. Oh the phone call that got me at work!

cooltoy 06-11-2013 09:06 AM

Yea, my divorce cost me ~40k when you include lawyer bills, debt from the marriage etc etc.

kenchan 06-11-2013 10:03 AM

Be like Solomon. Cut budget in half and see what she says.

$2400 for the clutch will wait.

Good luck.

zguynate 06-11-2013 11:29 AM

Im getting married in Sept and my wedding is about 10k. Man I thought I was doing good lol.

b15 06-11-2013 11:33 AM

Damn at the price, do both! Wedding costs were the bane of my existence throughout our engagement. I pretty much could've bought a new fully loaded Z instead of our wedding...matter of fact....I think I used that line! (It went well...like expected)

kenchan 06-11-2013 11:36 AM

i think planning for the wedding is like the final exam for the couple.

oh yah, take it from me... make sure you like your future in-laws BEFORE you get married. lol dogdamn did i fail.

JARblue 06-11-2013 11:44 AM

lol @ this thread :icon17:

Man, I wish we could have gotten away with a $2400 wedding. That wouldn't have even covered a half an hour of our bar costs (200 people, 3 hours of open bar, top shelf). Took us three years to pay off the credit cards and parents for our wedding. Once that was done we bought my wife a new car - the Z

iErick1284 06-11-2013 11:51 AM

I came for the clutch. I left with marriage advise? Only at the Z forum :)

Been married 30 years, divorced, and now with MY fiancée for over 6 years. I think I can speak from experience! Easy answer....when the wife/fiancée/girlfriend etc, etc, etc ain't happy, you won't be happy. Wedding first! The car can wait!

SAmilitaryman 06-11-2013 02:22 PM

HAHA. Both my fiance and I were married for 10 years before we met each other. We are doing a super simple wedding with only a few close friends this time. Nothing major.

Hill Country Wedding Venue ***$500 Wedding Ceremony Special*** Texas Outdoor Weddings, All-Inclusive Wedding Packages, Outdoor Wedding Reception Site, Garden Weddings near San Antonio location. Twelve Oaks has both the wedding ceremony and wedding re

$2000 package for two. We have both done all the big crazy stuff. This one is just for us.

kenchan 06-11-2013 02:37 PM

sounds good to me! i honestly dont think one needs to spend lots of dollars to have a nice wedding. :)

That's great! Good for you guys.

I wouldn't have even spent half of what our wedding was if it was up to me. Having a wife that used to be a wedding planner sucks big time. But I agreed under the following terms: 1.) Wedding paid in full day of. 2.) We split the bill down the middle. 3.) I'll put off my car once again BUT that I will buy a car after the wedding and she has ZERO say on price or what I get as long as it's less than the cost of the wedding. Surprisingly she agreed AND came through on all aspects. :D

I must say though, she put together one hell of a day...and arranged a 6hr top shelf open bar.

kenchan 06-11-2013 03:19 PM

you better find out wat the catch is. lol

b15 06-11-2013 03:22 PM

haha nothing has come up yet....that's not to say there isn't one, but I got what I wanted, it's all good.

we bought two cars and a house instead of pay for a wedding. That's an expensive one day event. You just paid for everyone to party on your dime. F that. Go buy your own food and drank.

$2400 for a wedding, that's 2 tickets and an overnight in Vegas to get married, right?
