Ummm you dont consider a car that sells for over 40 grand a nice car? But you drive a 335, and im guessing you think thats "nice" huh. So where you live there must just be Bugattis, Lambos, Saleens, and Maybachs. And "rice things", really? I think you need to :gtfo2:

I dont care if the 370z went for 80K. If it still has all the crap that it does now, I still wouldnt buy it. I have plenty of friends that have driven and drive these and Im sorry but if you think it is anywhere close or better than a luxury car, you are wrong.
I say that because I read on here that you guys think the plastic dash, seats, noisy interior, horrible quality overall, terrible transmission, etc. is better than these luxury cars. And Im not one of those BMW IS SUPERIOR TO ALL people, I just try to inform

Thats where you are not understanding what the Z is...Its a true sports car. Its has a robust engine, RWD, 2 seats, great suspension, and a short options list. Its not trying to be a luxury car, its not trying to have the softest leather or quietest ride...its a gritty car meant to be driven. Its options list is just keeping pace with the trends of upcoming technologies(and maybe it has set a new trend with the syncro rev match system, which will be copied by many manufacturers to come). You need to see the car for what its worth...a sports car, not a luxo sedan.:driving:

My car comes with 425lbs of torque. Stock from the factory.
Not a sport sedan? Luxury + sport is what the 3 series is about.
Do you not consider the 335i with a robust engine, RWD, 2 seats (or 5), and great suspension, to be a sport car either? $650 and you are pushing 400hp to the wheels and 400lb torque.
My friend has JB3 and a dual cone intake, all for less than a $1K and is faster than Lamborghinis. How does the Z compare?
I would rather have luxury and sport (sedan or coupe). Not sacrifice one or the other

Whats your defination of a true sports car...that its an exotic makes it a true sports car???? Thats makes no sense to me. Considering that those makes are only acquired by .001 percent of the population doesnt make me think its "true" to the average enthusiast.

Lets keep the prices in the same ball park please...

Sorry, I compared it to the 3 because you mentioned "luxo sedan" in your previous post.

Alright lets do that. The 135i has the exact same engine as the 335i.
So lets go through this again, and I'll add one more thing..
JB3 + dual cone intake all for under $1K and it will be faster than a Lamborghini. AND they weigh even less.
Still comparable to the 370?

Apparently you didnt watch the video because the 135i cost 5 grand more than the Z. Thats one of the reasons that edmunds selected it as the winner in the comparison. I actually looked at the 135i before I looked at the Z. Its a killer for sure and I know it has rediculous power potential. The Z just had a bit more character for me. I driven a few different turbo charged cars in my life, and the one thing I miss more than the loads of power, is the sound the turbos would make when spooling up. Youtube doesnt seem to have any vids of 3series smokin' lambos...I could be wrong of course.

Apparently you dont know how to read, as I clearly stated why I thought the Z was a true sports car. And then you listed the same reasons that I did why you thought your exotics were true sports cars????? You are making no sense. Wouldnt that make you more ignorant?

From my definition of a true sports car, you just explained why the 1 is more.
It may have a bit more character in your eyes, but not in mine.
Its the luxury + the sport that won me over. But thats just personal choice

You are not wrong about the video. There is a video on its way..
You can look up 335 vs m6 and watch it beat it up to about 140 where it closes in on its limiter and thats where the m6 keeps on going (it was delimited). And with a few more mods the 335 could have gained more but those are about 2K more in mods. Still worth it in my eyes.
And it wont smoke a lambo but it will beat it.

its 101 right now at 11pm at night. UGH! Yes there is no humidity but it is still hot

wolf41779 07-29-2009 01:08 AM

Lovin AZ, but 3 months out the year the heat gets to be just slightly annoying. Funny story, my friend and I were taking a short road trip and I look over and he's sweating. Im like "dude I got the air cranked", and I feel just fine. I look down and see that he has his heat seater on lol. Must have accidentally hit it, hahaha.

Sardis 07-29-2009 01:11 AM

AZ is such a great place to just drive around. Roads are mostly new, wide open with lots of lanes. You don't have to worry about winter weather rendering your sports car useless for months at a time.

Shah: take it easy killer. You can argue about the engine being coarse, but it is a high revving engine that continues to become more refined as years pass.

Not sure how the suspension is lousy compared to other cars. Speaking of brakes how are those single piston M3 calipers that overheat and warp after a few runs on the track?

The Z is supposed to be a focused sports car. Most peope that buy them CAN afford a *35, they choose the Z because they appreciate the more focused nature of the car. The 135 weighs roughly 100 pounds less than a 335, it was so hyped as a much more sporty ver of the 3, but it's basically the same car. Still has no real diff, still weighs a lot compared to true lightweight BMW's of the past, and the looks have been well not well pined on by most.

They are rumor to bring back a lightweight 1 with a 4 cyl turbo, a more sporting pure car than anything they offer now, let's wait and see.

If you guys want to troll, go over to the Infiniti forums. Those cars are made directly to compete against you, the Z is not.

We all know about the mods and such on *35. The mod game is just ridiculous, because it an always be applied to both sides. Your car is more expensive, so the difference in the prices can be used to mod the Z. It's just never ending and a worthless argument on both sides.

Love your 3 series. BMW has never been the all out luxury car you imagine it to be. The S class has outsold it since it's birth, has been used by more world dignitaries, and will always carry a higher level of prestige than the 7. Audi has much more beautiful exterior and interior, the leased 3 series will always be the entry level yuppie car. You honestly think it makes you have status?

Audi's are slooooowwwwww but their exterior styling is great. Mercedes are nice but of equal luxury. I would buy BMW because their handling is better. And if the 3 series is an entrance level yuppie car, what does that make yours? And I dont really care if it gives me "status" I fuggin LOVE the car.
And again with the entry level thing, my car cost 53K. Thats more than a 5 series. Not entry level. I didnt buy it for the badge either.

As for the AZ roads.. here is a sample of the roads here..
I tried to do a whole video of the raods where I live but something is going on with YouTube and Im going to try to upload it from a different computer..

Looks nice. I moved back to AZ, have yet to update my profile. I like the cruise through DC Ranch, or a run up Tatum, through carefree and back down Scottsdale road. Or a run from Scottsdale to Rio Verde can be very sporting.

Anyways, for me, BMW will always be the perfect of luxury and performance. Some cars will do either one better, but the BMW has always had the perfect match. Infiniti directly markets against BMW. They come close, but IMO the honors still go to BMW.

The Nissan Z is just a focused sports car. They are not meant to compete with each other, but BMW dropped a gem of an engine in, so I understand the urge.

The 3 series is BMW's bread and butter and most of the models sold are to entry level yuppies, 328s leased. At the top end of the spectrum, BMW has never been able to match Mercedes. The 8 series flopped and never gained share against the SL/CL. The S class as I mentioned is still the car of choice for foreign governments. Merc has the status, but they as of yet have never been able to produce a C class comparable to the mighty 3.

Enjoy your BMW's. They are great cars. Does not mean you have to troll on a car that isn't direct competition. That is what the G is for. It's heavier, your cars have a far better engine, so go flame on them
