I don't want the $2k back, I want the car, they've already wasted 3 months of my time. Besides, no other dealer can match the price that they are willing to sell it for (which makes me think they are regretting signing me that contract).

Call Nissan Corporate and email them. Polite direct and professional. There is no excuse for the dealer not being up-front with you, the PAYING customer. None. Waste no more time with them on day 90.

I mean this with all due respect but you ordered something from a dealer that is coming from the factory/Japan. When anyone says 8-12 week or an eta like that it's an approx could be 14 weeks or 7 weeks when dealing with oversea containers. I did the same with my Z ordered in March 2010 and received it in June 2010. Coming from the factory don't think there is a way of getting a VIN# in advance so can't blame the dealer for that.

Also keep in mind depending on what type Z (color, options) you ordered if they have truly ordered one in for you from the factory it is hard to blame the dealer for not coughing up the cost now to ship you the same one from across the country with a possibility of getting stuck with 2 of the same cars.

The dealer does sound like they are shady and from what you have said without a doubt didn't handle/info you correctly but patience is a good think when ordering something that eta's are ~3months

Can I get confirmation on the bolded before I go in and make a joke out of myself?

Also, if what you said was true than the contract should not say 90 days. I expect the 90 days to include any inconveniences that might have happened along the way. It wasn't simply a ETA (8-12 weeks was said in words), it was written in contract (within 90 days of the date of this agreement).

I can't confirmt he bolded part but as to the rest of your post.

I agree that if the signed contract says by 90 days then it should be there in 90 days or less. Any delays to that contract should have been made clear to you prior to the 90 day mark either verbally or in writing. I'm in the military so if it's not in writing it never happened. Contracts are legally binding. The choice you have to make is how bad do you want the car? So many variables and possible responses by the dealership that its hard to say what will happen.

Personally if I ordered a car and it wasnt delivered on time and there was no notification and i had gone through everything you have told us ( which btw, i take with a grain of salt. There is always three sides to every story. yours, theirs, and the truth which is usually somewhere in the middle ) the dealership would have to work very hard to keep me as a customer.

You answered your own question with that statement.

Everything I told you is 100% true and exactly what happened.

Anyway, today went easier than I thought it would. As soon as they saw me they told me the vin number is available and gave it to me.

The problem? "Its almost at Vancouver and will take another 2 weeks or so to reach Toronto".

Nothing I can do but wait, at least I got the VIN number so the car is sorta locked up for me.

Ask for rental reimbursement every day after day 90
maybe move things along quicker?
now nissan has 0% financing and other deals, maybe you can score a better deal now???

Z eliminator 05-27-2013 06:01 PM

Who is the dealer ?

good that you have the vin #, now just wait that's all. things like this happen. don't listen to other people who are egging you on to push the issue, you wont win any friends and could ruin your future relationship with this dealer. you did get a good price......so just sit tight.

I would have them throw in some comps.

Easy comps for dealership: paint protection(clear bra) and tint. Good luck. :tiphat:

Its simple: the dealer regrets agreeing to the negotiated price and is finding a way to back out. They are probably not making anything. What was the OTD price if you dont mind me asking?

took me 4 months to receive the roadster, also special order from Japan.

However, I got the VIN number about a 2 months after.

The "no-VIN on special order" is a complete BS though.

The thing is:

When you place the order at the dealership, the dealer cannot place the order right away to the factory in Japan.

The don't send single order to Japan.

Instead, they group all the special orders together and place them at certain date each month.

So, depends the timing, if you are lucky then they place the order the next day, otherwise they won't place the order til another 2 to 3 weeks.

After the factory in Japan received the order, they won't process it right away too, thus there's another wait..

After the car arrived Vancouver, it will take about 3 weeks to arrive Toronto, they transfer the inventory by train.

BTW, care to tell us which dealership in Toronto are you dealing with?

Good Luck :tiphat:

I don't want to mention the dealer because I don't want to burn any bridges, if you're really curious, feel free to PM me.

In Canada, the Z is more of a $50k car than a $30k car.

So they told you the Z has arrived Vancouver, right?

You should have it in about 3 weeks time then...

true, after tax and everything, it's almost 50k for the coupe and 56k for the roadster.

Hope to meet you up later this season

We have cruise and meet all the time.
