After I sold my e46 M3, I was looking at the e92 M3 and 997 C4S. I was pretty much set on the 997 C4S since I just don't like the interior of the e92... Well, I went to check out an PW/Orange full loaded 370z MT for the first time and bought it.

Some might wonder why I would take the Z over 997? Well, I love the way the Z looks both in and out, it is as wide as the C4S... and best of all, I got a lot of car for the money. The 997 is more than 3x the cost of the z.

The Boxster is a better car, the Z4 not so much. I wanted a newer 2009-2010 Boxster S but didn't want to pay the price so I went with the Z. All the fun, same power output, definitely a rarer car than a Boxster, most of the handling and feel for a LOT less money.

The ONLY Porsche that crossed my mind when buying my Z was a 06-08 987 Cayman S. Those cars are great value nowadays. I'm around Porsches everyday because of work, and to this day I don't sweat any 996 that is comparable in price to my Z. I guess you can consider these cars a poor mans Porsche haha.:ugh2:

In Japan they call the 370Z the "Porsche of Japan"

bbigby64 01-01-2015 07:57 AM

Really? Interesting.

felix0121 01-01-2015 01:10 PM

Toyota Avalon with full options.

Far better audio it had but my Z runs with just basic audio.

not only in Japan.

Once I heard an officer for parking ticket said the Z is Japanese Porsche in this California.

Frankly, for me Z has much better design than Porsches can't understand why Porsche fans like it. - know the design is obviously prefered subjective.

I drove a 2013 SRT Challenger and an 06 GTO prior to that. I got rid of the Challenger because it was too big.... for other drivers. They could not stop hitting it and running off. Last time it was in the shop for body work, it had 3 spots to fix cosmetically, and one big problem from some nice individual. One of the cosmetic repairs was a nine foot long scratch placed by some wonderful soul in the uncured clear coat of the first door ding I had just gotten fixed. The big one was a hit so bad the passenger door would not open. The passenger side front wheel had to be replaced in that repair as well... I got it all fixed at the same time, then got rid of it for the Z.

I was hoping the Z would be harder to hit since it's a smaller target, but it got hit within one month of its purchase (Late August). And I am VERY carfeul about how and where I park. Now it too needs to have some cosmetic work, paid for, again, by me.. inconsiderate pricks.

Maybe if I don't get it fixed they'll quit hitting it? Its a bumper rub and is barely visible unless you know it's there. I hate that on a new car....sheesh.

I need to start a thread of what did you buy after your Z...I loved my Z but needed a wee more utility and couldn't have both. I bought a Nissan Frontier Pro-4X.

I came from a 1995 RX7 with an LS1. Was a pretty bad *** car but didn't have all the creature comforts of the Z, but the Z doesn't have the raw power the 7 had. I wish I could have both cars!! But I love my Z

LOL that's far from an RX7... it's more of a RX-MONSTER with the swap :roflpuke2:

Dam, sounds like you need to buy a POS and only drive your Z when your out cruising. I have both, a Nismo Z and a SRT8, but I rarely park them anywhere other than my garage. My son loves to go to Zaxby's in both of them, but I always park where I can see my cars from where I'm sitting. Never park in a mall or movie theater parking lot and surely don't park in a supermarket lot.

yeah the 7 would run high 11's on sticky street tires with a basically stock LS1. I haven't ran the Z yet but I imagine with the tires that are on it, it is going to run crap times. I lose traction constantly in this thing.

Datsun240Z71 01-03-2015 07:51 AM

2008 Versa SL with Sport package, and still have my 1971 240Z I've owned since 1987!

The 2011 370Z I bought in November 2013 is a far cry from both... needless to say.

After one year with the 370Z as my daily driver, I got a 2014 Hyundai Elantra SE to add to the fleet. Great car for the $!

Awful luck man. If its any consolation, your challenger looked very nice and clean. Hope this is the first and last mishap with your Z :eekdance:

Thanks! It was a stripped down shell when I bought it in 2007. That is an older pic too, I did some major power upgrades and added side skirts along the way. I sold the car, to go back to school 2 years ago, to my buddy. It hasn't moved since he bought it, all it needs is a tune. I thought about buying it back but got my Z instead because I wanted something with more modern comfort. I miss having all that raw power though.

Had the girly car for 10 years, tracked it as much as I could. Sold it after 4th visit to doctor for skin cancer, needed something with a hard top to stay out of the sun and picked up a 2011 sport in Black Rose 2 weeks later last May

A LOT less practical but A LOT more fun to drive. :driving:

Kaldaien 02-18-2015 07:18 PM

Cars I purchased myself:

1999 Saturn SC2 (2.5 door, ~100 whp, overall a very weird "coupe")
2004 Nissan 350z Enthusiast
2009 Infiniti G37 Coupe
2011 Nissan Altima Hybrid (still own)

Cars I never wanted:

2003 Dodge Grand Caravan "Sport" (friend bailed on an auto loan that I co-signed :shakes head:)
2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid (inherited, not impressed with Ford in the slightest)

The Grand Caravan Sport was an interesting thing... I guess if I had to own a mini-van at some point in my life, it'd be that.

I was hoping the Q50s Hybrid powertrain would make its way into some variant of the Q60. A hybrid coupe (with more than 1 cubic foot of storage) that delivers power the way the Q50 does would be a really nice replacement for my boring Altima Hybrid.
