I am not saying you cant DD it. I currently do as well but hopefully for not much longer. You can't do any extensive mods with a daily driver. If it can't be done over a weekend then it doesnt get done. It is all about priorities. If you like a sportier ride instead of commuting in a sedan/truck/hybrid etc. Then the Z in stock form will get you from point A to B. But I wouldn't delegate this vehicle to a daily driver status only. By the same token a supercar can be a daily driver.

If only I were rich enough to DD a Huayra and have others for "the weekend". :yum: :icon17: :icon17:

Why did you buy a naturally aspirated car? And no the BRZ/FRS is not tuner by your definition. I havnt read all the posts, just first few pages, and I saw you said dyno figures dont mean **** pretty much. Yet hp figures seem to be all you care about..? Btw, a BRZ/FRS can't hold any hp above 300 at the crank unless you do some crazy expensive mods and fabrication. I am so annoyed with kids being so obsessed with hp figures.

When you say tuner friendly, do you just mean able to get huge gains from an ECU tune?

i only read the first 4 pages......

biggest question OP is that since your so into the "tuner" world you must know research is very important. looks like you should have done more research about the Z before buying and wasting your money.

My only regret was reading this thread...

Half the price of my car, 2/3 the price of a stock Z.

Pretty Fin stupid if you ask me. You could go buy an EVO and spend much less money to have the same amount of fun.

I was just being honest. The Z has its flaws like every car. One of them is the stupid expensive aftermarket parts.

Just for reference this is what the OP posted in his "hey bought a new z" thread.

"I absolutely need to get away from Mitsu and modding/racing in general. I spend wayyy too much time and money and am finally feeling like its time to "grow up". Priorities are changing and I need to buy a house. Driving an uncomfortable, modded car to work or out on a date isn't as enjoyable as it used to be either. The Z will stay stock for as long as possible. I have no intentions of voiding the warranty or getting in trouble. I am a man and will always have an itch for modding/racing, but the Z is a great car and I will enjoy it for what it is. (a daily driver)"

I dont get why the story/justification is needed. Is there a need to validate one is grown up? or to in some way ask for permission from the community? Is the Z grown up, where as the Evo isnt?

RoshDawg 04-22-2013 04:45 PM

It costs 14K to get 30hp with the 3.8L 991 S.
If you want cheap aftermarket gains, get a turbo, simple as that OP! I would've though you knew that!

I'm sorry to say but this is only the second best troll thread of the day. The guy who asked about the vdc off button topped this.

I wish I could throw in the GTR or Z06 into my conversation, but those cars are out of my league.

Here you go,
This is in the red (super advanced group, mostly it's instructors in this group)

See the names Chris, Len, and Martin:
http://westholdtiming.com/pdf_files/...89/Red%202.pdf

This is from this past saturday at Willow Springs International raceway.
Chris drives a ~stock 350(no turbo no supercharger) and Martin a nearly Stock 370. Neither guy has anything besides boltons, 2 ways/cambers, LSD, and RS3's/Nitos. Len has a heavily modified 350 (full race car basically). These guys are competing with every car imaginable: GT3's, Evo's, STI's, Z06's, Lotus, 911 turbos, decked out M3's, you name it. They are pulling times like that with no turbos, no tunes, just good tires and suspensions/LSD's. If you don't know willow these are professional driver times.

So I ask you, what are you talking about? If you are asking the crowd if a 500 whp evo/sti will beat a 370z in the quarter mile then, yes the 370z is slow and no fun and sucks at racing. But on the track with someone that knows how to drive it's a damn fast car with a few minor upgrades <$5K.

Moreover, if the only one thing u care about is HP, I bet u will hate Lotus. They have less HP than Z but 0-60 in 4 secs. Or u can buy a Mustang or Camaro which claim that they have 400hp+ OEM. Forgive the Z for being a horrible, and unfriendly tuner :(

Ps. As I said break ur bank and drop it in mods for Z. Read some Japanese modification then u might be satisfy with this sexy catfish. U should not say its unfriendly because ur $1000 may not be worth as much as my $1000. This is user personal financial problem. Again, if u break ur bank, u can mod it as other cars that cheaper to mod.

Again non enthusiatic people that buy a Z to complain about. People need to do the proper research.

Tune friendly, yes like any other car if you have the money. The BRZ will need a lot more than simple upgrades to touch the Z...

The Z stock is the best bang for the buck.

BTW, This car has enough power to get me in trouble.
