What's the deal with the tow hook?

Ok guys, I have been http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/.../confused1.gif on what the deal was with front tow hooks installed on your street cars. Forgive me, as I am not into all the tuner scene stuff, but what's the point? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/...iley_dunno.gif Poser points at your local Starbucks, or waiting for your car to break down so you can use it? Or maybe for those reverse dyno pulls. Could it be for easy access to pull you over those speed bumps when you get stuck? What gives? Could someone please explain the logic behind this?
Thanks

If you have to ask you don't understand :icon17:

It's just like anything else, it's personal preference

Yeah I've heard of it, but I'd rather be tracking my bike & along with other things I do ;). Anyway, what does the tow hook do for you at the track?

The point of this post was really to find an answer to the question.

Thanks

You want the Truth???

You can't handle the Truth!!!!!!!!! :)

I'm with Felix on this one. I always thought that the hooks made an otherwise clean car look...bad. Most track cars I've seen don't even have them. It's like looking at a gorgeous woman, then realizing she's a tranny. Well, maybe not quite that bad. But you catch my drift.

mine came installed from the dealer (the regular silver hook) *shrug*. never cared to take it out except when i installed my license plate tow hook adapter
