Yeah I've heard of it, but I'd rather be tracking my bike & along with other things I do ;). Anyway, what does the tow hook do for you at the track?

The point of this post was really to find an answer to the question.

Thanks

At the track it's an easy connecting point to pull you out of the gravel, etc. if you run off, rather than someone trying to crawl under the car. (See Le Mans, ALMS, Touring Car, etc. races.)

On the street - I guess under certain circumstances it could provide the same type of convenience. Otherwise it's for looks.

Looks and practicality if you want to know. It's not for everyone. If I were to do it I'd paint it black.

I thought some tracks require you to have the tow hook clearly visible and attached on your car.

copied another member's setup and plasti dipped it and have it not screwed in all the way. now my bumper is protected and it looks cool :)

It's personal preference Rob. Some do it for looks, and others do it for track use.

What do you mean the bumper is protected?

I personally have no problems with visible tow hooks, its just an accessory in my eyes.

If the hook is extended enough out, and someone backs into your car the hook will take most of the damage or at least help protect the bumper a little bit

The colored ones are an accessory...like earrings or a necklace..don't see what the big deal is..
