Dog on a stick, yup! Balut, nope. I have seen plenty people eat it tho. Used to live in Hawaii and had a lot of Filipino friends.

It was a pleasure. Now that I no longer wear the uniform I think it is even MORE important for us all to defend our constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.

Freedom will continue to require sacrifice from us all so for those patriots on this forum who have not worn the uniform I thank YOU as well, for upholding our national ethic.

RiCharlie 04-14-2013 05:55 PM

Anyone care to start swapping war stories or is that not on topic?

Army, Aviation mechanic. I'll be retiring in a few months after 20 years of service. And, since I had to trade my Nismo a few weeks ago, once I retire and get a job I'll be back in a Nismo. (sorry, I felt I had to say it out loud)

Congratulations on retiring. I was originally planning to make it a career but the post 9/11 GI Bill is a sweet deal and I wanted to get my degree before I get too old.

NAH! not yet anyhow. Its me.

That is just an "I love me" box the wife put together out of some old USMC stuff laying around the house. I just thought it was worth posting in the spirit of the thread.

Oh! I thought it might have been a brother or someone you knew..Glad to hear that is not the case..

I was just a young man when I was in the Air Force and wanted so badly to get out..now, looking back, it was one of the best times of my life,.,.too stupid at the time to realize that.. My father was a combat wounded vet of WW2 (old army air corps) and he did not want to get out but they dont keep disabled vets on active duty..he wanted me to stay in but i never listened to him...Today i tell my grandson to join the AF get an education and have it paid for...but he doesnt listen to me.. anymore that I listened to my father....
Aint that life!!??

I feel ya. When I was wearing my jump boots, the soles were so thick I could not really feel the pedals......

AlexRaymond19 04-20-2013 10:45 PM

Haha, it always feels weird driving with my boots on. On a side note, its even more weird parking next to the commanders ford focus...

I worked with a young, former Marine and and one day I dropped a piece of candy on the floor..Remembering the Seinfield ten second rule i picked it up and ate it.. He was shocked! I told him that my distant uncle was a Marine who served in WW2 and remembers getting down and drinking out of a mud puddle..

I told him i could only conclude that Marines today are not as tough as they were in my day!!!:stirthepot:

Just sayin....

How was the Army Air Core anyway? Haha, we had a cheif that just retired, and we would always give him crap about being in the AF when it was the army!

Hey just curious (not trying to start and argument) why I military for the most part do not tip well at all. I live in Austin tx and bartend/serve at a place that has quite a few people from ft hood that come in. And its pretty widely accepted that you are screwed once you see a military I.d. or credit card.

No idea, and have never noticed this or tipped bad. I have always followed the double the tax rule, or gone higher if excellent sevice. I always tip $2 for a mix drink or $1 for a beer at the bar. Honeslty though, ater I spent 8 years in Japan, I had a hard time getting back into tipping again, as you do not tip in Japan for anything.....

For the most part we don't make a lot of money. People think that military people have lots of cash and that's far from the truth. I lived off of 1800 a month and barely made ends meet. Uniforms are freakin expensive, gas isn't any better, and in my case not a lot of people liked to live on the ship. Hope this helps.
