any paint will fade if not properly taken care of.

arcticreaver 07-21-2009 12:50 PM

right, but doesn't white turn yellow over time or can you prevent that?

Caravanshaka 07-21-2009 12:59 PM

the yellowish tint is just white fading.

I've seen what clearbra looks like on a white car. The clearbra yellows and looks awful.

even the best body shop in my area couldnt match my 300ZX's pearl white perfectly

Caravanshaka 07-21-2009 09:38 PM

depends on the brand of the clear bra. clear bra is easily removed and replaced though, at least easier than painting and trying to match it.

To be honest with you the paint industry has for the most part resolved the yellowing problem in the past 10 years. What causes dulling or discoloration is actually the atmospheric contaminents and the use of non-distilled water or recycled water which is found at most car washes including no-touch ones.

Keeping the skin of a car looking good and proper is 100% in the hands of the owner of the car and how lazy he or she is going to be. If you are one of the folks who think driving it through a car wash once a week is enough then you are in for a rude awakening as your clear coat and paint will begin to dull enough to take away the "new" look it had originally.

If you clay-bar the car at least 2 to 3 times a year the contaminents are not going to be able to accumulate to affect the paint color. Following up with a regular course of timely washing, polishing and waxing will keep the white as new as the day it came out of the paint booth.

It's as new looking as what you put into it....its as simple as that.

If you want white go for it. My 370 has been hit twice now and it still looks like new. You can rest assured if you go with white thanks to Jacks Paint Place in Converse here in the San Antonio area. should get my car back thursday but saw it yesterday and it was flawless.
