Repainted bumper looks off...

I had to repaint my front bumper due to a hit and run. Now I notice the paint on my bumper is (very) slightly darker than my hood/fender. I asked the manager of the shop why and he gave me a few "reasons":
1) bumper is plastic whereas the hood and fenders are metal so that paint will be slightly off
2) it looks darker because the clear coat that they used has a very slight yellow tint to it
3) only way to match all 3 parts is to repaint the hood and fender as well

He told me there is nothing he can do to match the paint perfectly.

Is this true? He does not sound like he is going to repaint my bumper again...what else can I do?

Was it replaced or just needed painting??? Becouse when i had my accident i belive the shop just ordered new bumper and it allready came painted, but if he just repainted then yeah they did a crappy job. So hit car and get new bumper  just j/k.

he forgot one more reason:

4) only way is to go to a more proficient bodyshop.

What color is it?
If its pearl white, we all have this issue. Its very difficult to match it. I was rear ended and my bumper looks slightly darker as well.

probably black. lol

I still think it depends on the color because I've seen a couple PW and the color never seems to match 100% perfect. Or maybe its just the way the light hits it, idk lol.

You should ask them to blend the hood and fenders.

He is right about color on different materials, but slight yellowish clear? Thats considered a "clear" coat?

And which body shop is that?

Paint will fade even in a year if left out in the sun, also it depends on what brand of paint and formulation. The painter should have checked the color on a test sheet to make sure the match was correct.

kenchan 04-03-2013 02:27 PM

hummm... my dd sits out 24/7 and paint has not 'faded' at all...
