What color is it?
If its pearl white, we all have this issue. Its very difficult to match it. I was rear ended and my bumper looks slightly darker as well.

I wasn't even rear ended. My car came with a slightly more yellow front/rear bumper.

You don't notice it since it's fading uniformly.

not faded until you try and match or repaint a panel !!!

All paint fades, with time.

I have a 40th Z so the bumper is like gun metal grey with a hint purple to it.
The paint itself looks like a match but the whole bumper is like tinted by the clear coat.

Will polishing the car make the difference less obvious?

Every car in the world fades if its outside 24/7.....u just can't tell cause your whole car has slightly faded. UV rays cause fading. If she's in the sun, she's a fading away slowly.

I just dropped off my Z this morning at the local Nissan body shop to have the crease in my rear bumper repaired after I was rear ended a few weeks ago. I hope to god that they do a good job matching it.
The insurance company fixed me up with a Chevy Cruze as a rental. That thing is gutless ! I miss my Z already, that Cruze feels like it couldn't get out of it's own way if I were trying to merge on to the freeway with an 18 wheeler bearing down behind me.
