Better sales..Chicane Yellow or Black Cherry?

Which do you think will be the better seller of the premium colors, the 2009 Chicane Yellow or the 2010 Black Cherry?

kevindangit 07-16-2009 11:27 PM

Probably cherry. Yellow is too extravagant for most (including me). :tiphat:

shabarivas 07-17-2009 12:34 AM

yellow def shows the car off the best

AK370Z 07-17-2009 12:36 AM

I think I'd drive yellow before the Black Cherry.

BTW, I can make this a poll if you want.

cave vulture 07-17-2009 02:32 AM

A poll / good idea if you can . Thanks

FricFrac 07-17-2009 02:33 AM

Black Cherry looks more like Cruddy Brown....

Shunya 07-17-2009 05:45 AM

i'd have to go for Yellow.

Diversion 07-17-2009 07:34 AM

Was Black Cherry the same color the 350Z got? The kind of dark purply color? Same thing seen on Scion tCs?

Zlips 07-17-2009 08:02 AM

That color on the 350z was Brickyard if I am not mistaken.

shabarivas 07-17-2009 11:15 AM

someone post pics

Mergnthwirker 07-17-2009 11:46 AM

I like the yellow better. In fact, I have an Imola Yellow Audi S4 Avant. But I'll bet the black cherry gets far more sales. Much more mainstream color. A lot easier to speed with it too -- don't ask me how I know this ;)

Brizzie 07-17-2009 12:40 PM

I think Nissan made a mistake bringing the blk cherry color to production, i would be surprised to see sumbody in one. If anything, they should of brought back the bronze color. Thats tha first thing im doing to my Z when i get near x-mas time. Back to tha poll I think yellow shows off tha fine lines of tha Z

nogoodname 07-17-2009 12:45 PM

i'd pick cherry over yellow any day

Robert_Nash 07-17-2009 01:07 PM

Say folks, I'm not 100% sure but I don't believe yellow is offered for 2010 which sort of makes the poll a bit moot. :)

cave vulture 07-17-2009 03:04 PM

The poll is alive and well. I believe that 09 yellow will outsell 2010 black cherry because my guess is that the 09 370Z is going to outsell the 2010 370Z overall, and both yellow and black cherry will be the least popular color for their year.

I mean no offense but I think the assumption underlying your poll is faulty.

Whether the '09 Yellow outsells the '10 Black Cherry or vice versa, it's impossible to say that color has any bearing on the difference. The only way to know if color choice has any impact is if people have a choice of both colors in the same year.

Whether each are the least popular for their respective year may well be a factor of the additional cost rather than the color choice itself.

cave vulture 07-17-2009 03:49 PM

I agree, the $500 extra charge alone almost guarantees lower demand for both colors. Since both colors command a premium, they are sort of on an equal playing field, even though they are being offered in separate years.

Forrest 07-17-2009 03:50 PM

id love a black cherry hehe

cave vulture 07-17-2009 03:55 PM

And speaking of colors, despite the popularity of Platinum Graphite on this forum, I predict, based on availability, the 09 color sales best to least will be.......Black....Silver....Blue....Red....Graphit e....White....Yellow

Sorry, the playing field isn't equal from year to year; especially right now...TVM and the economy overall is going to have a hell of a lot more to do with sales figures than color choices no matter what vehicle you are looking at. :)

didymus 07-17-2009 04:25 PM

I dont like the black cherry, too purple. I was hoping for a maroon instead.

cave vulture 07-17-2009 07:07 PM

I see cherry is closing the gap....

alexanderb 07-17-2009 07:18 PM

Can someone please post a pic of black cherry? It's kinda hard to choose without seeing the choices. :)

Junior370z 07-18-2009 12:09 AM

Hmm... I think yellow... Just because mine is yellow lol!

Sashimi 07-18-2009 05:43 AM

When I first heard of black cherry I was thinking of a dark black with a slight tint of red. but I think it looks more purple brownish.

I really wish the color was more black and less cherry.

But I still think black cherry will sell more

CBRich 07-18-2009 11:43 AM

Honestly I think it depends more on the economy than anything about the colors themselves. If the economy picks up people will buy more cars and the purple will beat out the yellow in sales. BUT, that being said, I think the yellow looks better and I think most people would agree.

So far, 33 out of 64 people agree with you. Sounds like a super-majority! ;)

dad 07-18-2009 12:03 PM

I pick Yellow over black.

OMGWTFBBQ 07-18-2009 12:59 PM

Some people state that the 2010 Black Cherry color is limited to only roadsters. Any truth in this?

cave vulture 07-18-2009 10:18 PM

Dead heat 34-34. Anybody want to break the tie?

gatorfast 07-19-2009 09:23 AM

I wouldnt buy either but I will have to say the black cherry will have better sales. More people will like subdued look of the black cherry than the flashy yellow. Especially all the 50+ year old guys I see cruising around here in there 350z roadsters...when they upgrade the black cherry will suit them perfectly.

:bs:

Gosh...I guess I had better tell all the 50+ year old guys I autocross and road race with that they need to "tone it down" when it comes to the color of their vehicle.

Endgame 07-19-2009 04:01 PM

Well, I broke the tie. BC reminds me of the GTR's Opal Black, thought NOWHERE as pretty.

carolina girl 07-19-2009 04:53 PM

I'm 45 no wonder I went for the flashy yellow.

Well, you'll have to sell it when you're 50..maybe they'll have a nice beige by then.

Not speaking in absolutes, just a generality. Obviously anyone can get whatever color they want. The pole question was simply which color will have better sales. I wasnt making fun of older people, just saying most of the people I see driving 350z's (mostly middle aged adults) would probably prefer black cherry over the flashy yellow. I think the average buyer in general would choose black cherry over yellow. Same reason most cars you see on the road are black, white, silver, and not red, yellow, green.

Funny...I always thought I was buying what I liked; I didn't know it was all due to my age at the time I bought the vehicle.

I'd have chosen Yellow in a heartbeat over any other color on my Roadster if it was offered; which it isn't, unfortunately.

Z_you_Later 07-20-2009 04:00 PM

I can't believe Black Cherry is winning the poll ... When I saw the picture of the Chicane yellow before buying my car it helped close me ... The Cherry just doesn't do it for me ... Maybe after seeing it in person I might change my mind .. But right now I think the Yellow will be the hot seller ..

The_Zed_car 07-20-2009 04:56 PM

Yellow ftw.

True sporty color.
