but what if they ask me if ive gotten my car serviced every 3months or 3000km intervals like it says in one of the booklets?

car was bought in april 2012, so its only been 11 months.

do you HAVE to get your car serviced every 3 months? and if you dont, does it void the warranty?

I MAY have overlooked it, even though I have actually read through the manual several times, but not once did I see any reference to a 3 month/3,000 mile service interval for the fuel filler door.

I think you will be good.

Simple answer is NO! & NO!

Those are recommendations, not requirements. There is absolutely no set limits on service intervals. That booklet is just a guide. Secondly, service has nothing to do with the gas cap. Thirdly, the warranty can only be voided if Nissan finds that a particular part has been tampered with. Your warranty on the engine cannot be voided if you install custom suspension for example.

im from ontario, canada. our manuals are different, i think?

i cant check to see which booklet and the title of it. but i received 3 booklets when i purchased my car.

i know your from the states, and not sure if those rules are the same as in canada, but to me it makes total sense. its just that i personally know 3 people with new cars and they follow those service intervals, but i also know one guy that doesnt (but hes cheap). so i wasnt sure whether it was required or recommended.

thanks alot for all the helpful comments, i feel a bit better.

You should keep records of services you do personally. It's enough to satisfy any warranty work. Keep all your receipts for oil changes for example.

FYI -- I had the same issue on my 2013 -- actuator that was suppoused to lock the door was nonfunctional. It was replaced under warranty, no question, no charge.
