normally i leave it unlatched 99% of the time cause i like that sense of openness and being able to reach into the trunk for anything like a jacket or umbrella while still in the car. the only time i have it latched is when i have people putting in their luggage which could end up shifting around banging and scratching up the plastics and as a anti-theft measure.
mine is latched 100% of the time... no noise from it what so ever. the only noise coming from the rear is my exhaust... and those pesky rocks bouncing off our thin under carriage.
I also like it because it darkens the rear glass...especially if you keep stuff in your trunk. |
Where can you get one of these online?
I'd assume any of the places that get OEM parts can find you one. Fred Beans here on the forum seems to have good pricing, but I haven't used them myself. Courtesy Nissan has been good to me. I think there's some available used here on the forum.

I got one for sale. PM if interested! Its off my 2009 just collecting dust. $160 plus shipping + pay pal fee

Its up to you really. I have one and I almost never use it because I never carry stuff with my Z but when I do, I usually use it.
I got mine for free though when I bought the car. You're paying for yours, just see if you'll use it enough to really warrant buying it. |
My Touring came with one, I latched it once and never touched it again. It does keep the trunk private.
I like it. I keep it down pretty much 100% of the time too.
'nother nice thing about having it and using it: go to walmart, and for about $8 buy their plastic storage bin (21"L X 10"H X 15"W) to put your groceries, etc in and they won't roll around the trunk, as the cargo cover traps the bin...
If your back window is tinted, you probably won't need it too much. It's also a bit noisy if you have it retracted if you are carrying bulky items in the back. For the amount of money you'll be paying for this cover, you're better off investing it elsewhere on your car.
I love mine. Going to the thrify shop tomorroe to donate some stuff so it covers a plethora of embarassments.
I still want the tint for the heat too. |

I bought one for my 2011 I got seven weeks ago. The cover came from Courtesy Nissan. No rattles. i also have tinred windows but wanted this as well.
I wanted one also but just going with tint instead. Light tint only so you'll still see but at night it'll be hard to see through(anti-theft measure)
Does anybody still have one of these they would like to sell for the $80.00 I've seen in earlier posts? SoCal here and would like one! PM me!
One of the best investments I made with the Z since I do not have a tint!
Mine came with it. I leave it on about 99 percent of the time but I probably wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks for one if I didn't have it. Just tint your car.

I leave it latch about 50% of the time. No rattles or noises
I bought a black nylon stadium blanket and keep it in the storage area folded. When I need to cover something I just unfold it and place it over the items. Works great!
Anybody on here still interested in selling one for $80 +shipping as mentioned earlier on? PM if so, thanks!
I don't have one, always wanted one, was offered a free one and then it was given to someone else, tried to buy used for $150 and fell through...
After all that I stopped thinking about it. I will say it saddenes me to see so many people say they immediately removed theirs and its sitting in some garage somewhere unused. The guy that was going to give me his was in that category |
