Me: "What happened to the GT-R that used to be in the showroom?"

Me, pointing my key fob and making the lights flash: "No, it isn't."

we highly recommend Nissan esther oil. mobil 1 fully synthetic is not as good for the 370Z engine - Houston Nissan Dealer

The first time I ever went to a Nissan Dealership and after doing my research and stuff I was taking a look under the hood and I was testing his knowledge too... sadly he failed.

I asked him if this 370z was turbo'd and he said yeah look right here and he points out the silver connectors to the OEM Intake MAF that goes to the ported intake manifolds. lol

I had a reallllllly good laugh about that one. I decided to test drive the car 5 times before I left the dealership for fun.

I hate to quote myself/cross-post, but I posted this in the "What did you do ... today" thread in March. I feel it deserves a spot itt--probably should have put it here originally.

I tell the service tech I want an oil change as it has been six months since they had done it and specified what oil I wanted. He writes the order ticket and I head to the suckers' lounge. After a couple of minutes he comes and finds me and this conversation takes place:

ST: You've had your oil changed before, haven't you?
Me: Yes. Y'all changed it exactly 6 months ago. You should have a record of it.
ST: What model is it? You were probably thinking every 3750 miles.
Me: It's a '14. But it's been six months.
ST: A '14? You only need to change the oil every 5000 miles.
Me: The manual says it needs to be changed every 6 months or 5000 miles so as not to void the warranty.
ST: [using pencil & paper] But it has only been 2400 miles since your last oil change.
Me: I haven't driven it much, but it has been six months.
ST: We'll change it for you this time, but next time remember that it is every 5000 miles or six months, whichever comes first.
Me: You mean like if six months comes before 5000 miles?
ST: Yep. [nods with satisfaction and exits stage right]

I felt like Bud Abbot and wondered if he ever felt like putting a gun barrel in his mouth and pulling the trigger.

I can't wait until my next visit!

I was due employee pricing on an Evo that I wanted to buy. The local dealership manager refused to give me that pricing as he was trying to save the car for a tech who worked there. I was a serious buyer and I just don't take being jerked around lightly – nothing infuriates me more than someone wasting my time. I ended up speaking with the Regional Vice President after contacting my fleet manager at work (we bought lots of Mitsubishi's for field workers, and got him copies of the emails and ended up doing a 3 way call with the owner of the dealership and the RVP. As a result, I got the car for slightly better than Employee Pricing and 0% apr and the manager lost his job for trying to screw me. Same manager also tried to be me in a OZ Rally edition lancer saying it was "basically the same car". (-_-)

While trying to get to the price I wanted on my Nismo

Me: 35k out the door or I really don't need it.

Salesman: but you said on the test drive its this or a lotus in 6 months. If you can afford a lotus you can afford more than 35k.

Me: It's not what I can afford but what I'm willing to pay. I'm willing to pay more for the lotus because they cost more, and are harder to find.

Salesman: I don't know if there harder to get. I mean I'm still havnt seen the model you where talking about, but that can't possibly be rarer than a Nismo.

Me: think about the logic you have 3 Nismos on the lot but have never seen an Exige. What's rarer?

Salesman: let me send my manager in.

Drove my car to the infiniti dealer here a couple years ago for an oil change.

The tech greeted me with "Nice 350!".

Me: Good bye.

Zbrah 12-31-2015 06:47 PM

Or how about this one.

Two months after getting my Z, I drove an hour to Fontana Nissan for a quick inspection on an ecu noise issue. Dropped the car off to the service guy and waited less than 10 minutes in the waiting room and the service manager came running in.

Him: excuse me...is the grey 370z yours?
Me: yes.
Him: something happened to your car...
Me: okay...what happened?
Him: uh...one my tech took it for a test drive and a street light fell on your car.
Me:...:icon08:

And that wasn't the end of it :shakes head:

This may be a re-post, but one time I was cruising the paring lot at a Nissan dealer in my 240Z with my son. We were window shopping the 350Zs on the lot. A salesman walked over to us while we were sitting in my 240 and said:

"Nice car, who makes it?"

He was serious. My 240 is clearly badged with the original Datsun emblems...

I said that Nissan made it and then asked if the sales guys ever studied their manufacturer's history at all.

He looked surprised.

This reminds me of a story I heard from a fellow tech at my dealer. I guess a guy had someone pull out in front of him when he was road testing a brand new SL63 AMG. The car was totaled.

I get nervous as fvck road testing cars sometimes. I road tested a SLS63 AMG after working on it and I almost had someone pull out in front of me.

^^^^ had the brakes on a 76 rolls silver spur got out on me during a test drive and had to park it in the sand. trying to stop a 3 ton rolls with no breaks at 65MPH with out causing any damage was probably one of the scariest incidents I've ever had in a vehicle, and I've litterly been blown out of the turret of a humvee

If I was in the Rolls I would have been like I'm not stopping this fat pig!

Luckily when I was in Iraq my vehicle never got hit by any IED's. I was with 1ID.

Okay, not Nissan but Pontiac...

I stopped by a Pontiac dealership when I was 17. The sales guy said to me "Pontiac is America's version of BMW". :shakes head:
