Not a surprise. I suspected that when they started this they would never pick a car they had no shot at beating. What I am surprised at is that there are no 370's, and two of those 3 cars probably don't even stand a chance.

Atleast the 240 is black and orange.;)

Seriously. When I first heard about this, I thought it was for 370's only. Should ream them for false advertising. Even says it in their article. "Nissan is looking for the baddest 370z on the road to take on your project car".

I may have been a little slow this morning but it took me a while to find the post lol i was looking where people posted on the wall, if anyone else is not that FB savvy, Bullitt's post is found where people are commenting on "which Z is your pick" photo

I was also disappointed that no 370 was chosen for the final 3

My response to a dissenter of my comments:

K parlett the point is they advertised this from day one as a 370z challenger and that is how they pushed it to the 370z community... The fact that the rules say otherwise is a classic bait and switch... It is false advertising to get more entrants to the competition... The fact that not a single 370z made the finalists is a tell that something shady is going on... We have cars with the same types of mods as the 350z's and with more innovative ideas which they stressed in the rules as a qualifier for the finalist and not one made it? Yet two stock looking 350z's with turbo kits blew out every 370z.... The average power of any FI'd 370z is 500rwhp+ more power than both the two 350z finalists... Hmmmm. The problem is Nissan Performance and motor trend are sand bagging the event! Their car will have more HP, better brakes and better suspension than any of the finalists posted. It is a known fact that the 370z stock for stock is leaps and bound better than the 350z in performance and responds even better with mods.... The 270z is great but won't come close to winning the silver Z will be close on power but won't be able to handle or keep traction as well as the project Z and the white Z may handle great but is over 100rwhp short and will lose out on key events... The finalists were stacked to promote the Nissan performance Z.... Sad fact but true...

i wonder if somebody can get more pres/blogs on this BS... like how jalopnik pointed out the issue with the pagani huayra tires during the top gear's track lap times... im starting to feel like the 370z folks just got Manti Teo'd by motortrend and nissan performance... lol

Meh, we suspected it would be this way when this was first announced. I am not surprised that it is now come to pass.

That 240Z has a pretty impressive hp to weight ratio.

Time to boycott Nissan and get a Mustang.

I read the guy's full thread on that build of his 240..... pretty impressive. If you're upset about that, I'm sorry. I personally can't wait to see that 240 tear it up, regardless of who wins. That's one hell of a project car... :driving:

that's a pretty sick 240 but like the original issue has always been, they advertised it as a 370Z contest :ugh2:

can't blame them (Nissan Perf./Motor Trend) though really. At first I did, but then thinking about it, I feel that the blame should go to the stupid people that can't read the rules and decided to enter their non-370Z's in the contest.

The 270 has 200 less HP it's going to lose the 0-60-0, any straight line comp, any high speed comp, but may tear it up on the smaller road course... This is a puff piece competition... Rigged like me and many others have said.

Personally I hope they get their A$$ES handed to them by the 270z!!! It was the only innovative car of the three they picked!

I wouldnt be surprised if the 0-60-0 is closer than you think, merely due to the HP/Weight ratio of the Datsun.

I think a smaller road course will WRECK the 370. But yes, it's all for show, and I think it's rigged. I wonder what kind of fallout would happen if the 370 LOSES the competition in this form? "Well ****, why bother getting a new Z when an older one is faster?"

The competition is not rigged, the owner of the 1970 240Z is a friend. He bought the car 3 years ago from a fellow in Arizona, where it sat for years dry rotting. He had it brought home and has put in a ton of time and money into the build. He wasn't going to enter the competition thinking he wouldn't be considered. After some persuasion he changed is mind and its pretty cool just to say i know the guy who won. He's enjoying the strip right now!!!!
