Submitted my entry last night, today is the second to last day, lets get some more entries from this forum! I am far from most people's submissions having only a cat-back exhaust system and Coilovers, paired with quite a few aesthetic mods.


I really don't know how critical the performance modification section must be, as long as you have performance mixed with looks that they think are "innovative to the Nissan brand" you should have a shot. It is mentioned in the rules that the track event is optional and that they will be using one of their own professional drivers at your (the owners) own risk, to your vehicle being on the track.

Although I don't know why they would pick someone who wouldn't let them do the track portion for publicity, I'm just throwing that out there. If they consider the finalists a 50-50 judgement, the winner is the one with the better story of their Z ownership anyway and your relationship/passion with Nissan it sounds like.

Anyone see if the event is open to the public to watch or interact? I'm planning to go out to Vegas soon and this would be a great time to go.

They've updated the Facebook page with pics of the entrants. I didn't realize you could submit non-370s, so that's pretty cool to see some of the classics in there. Good luck to our forum members. I saw a few in there.

Whether I make it or not, I'm just happy that more than 10% of those in there have my powdercoating work on them!

since they were contacting the 3 finalists today and I haven't heard from them, I'll assume I didn't make the cut.

And I think there are still some submissions to go through and upload to the Facebook page as well, not entirely sure

Has anyone heard of anyone getting an email or phone call as of yet? I am wondering as to 1 how many finalists they are choosing and who they are. I am also wondering if they only had the 33 or so entries or did they thin them out before posting on facebook.

3 finalists are to be chosen and then a final winner at the beginning of March is what I read in the rules.

I have heard nothing yet... and I know several people who submitted...

I should have sent my brakes off to you when I had them being worked on but did the overhaul in a rush. :shakes head:

almost certain they are not going to pick a car with GTM goodies... iirc, the Stillen SC kit was the only other option they had vs Greddy TT... marketing/sponsorship... i would really like to see one of the GTM monsters against their "crowd" source Z...

That is a tough call, I could see that being true but then again I figured they would want something different that what they had on their Z.
Also, my prediction was they will pick a Datsun era car to show the old v new.

the problem is they still have not picked anyone yet. I would really like to know what direction they have decided to go. If they have contacted the finalists they are keeping hush hush because the majority of us know alot of the entries.

so has anyone heard anything on this contest. I keep checking to see if they have picked the finalists but nothing as of yet. I wonder if the facebook post contains all of the submissions or just what they are considering from. So was there anyone here that submitted and do not see their car on there? Or was this all that submitted their cars which is somewhat hard to believe. Either way I guess we must continue to wait until they decide to say something. probably first part of next week.

The guy with the silver 350 parked next to an airplane said on facebook that he was one of the 3 and finds out monday. So I guess that means that none of us were in that group.

Go figure that they would not want to compare apples to apples. I would like to think that they would want to compare their project with another 370z to compare what products are out there for this platform.

yeah, it will be a real shame if a 350z beats them! It is a sweet azz 350 they chose though.

The April motor trend that I got yesterday has a small article on it, says 370 against 370, but Nissan said any Z.

You know they are just going to turn this into a marketing ploy for nismo performance and nissan... If they picked any of our 370z's it would look badly on them because most of us have similar mods and pushing more power or have less power and better suspension setups...

I bet it is between 350z, 300zx and 280z...

there is already enough articles out there on the 350z vs 370z and so forth so I really hope they choose to avoid this. even though it is somewhat modded I dont think it is a true measure. I was excited to think about one of our modded z's going up against what the crowd thought would be the best products at that time.

3 picks are in. I'm pretty shocked they didn't pick at LEAST 1 370. That's really lame IMO. The title is "Project 370Z" but they don't want to challenge another 370? Dumb.

I have no problem with those they picked but I feel we should all get on there and post up a challenge to nissan and motortrend and call them out to come to zdays and put their "champ" up against our cars. wonder how they would respond to that challenge.

Lol, I didn't even know there was an FB page for this. We were talking about this on FB, and I called that a Datsun was going to win this on the 22nd.

Looking at the final 3, I think "nuff said". The only reason the others have a chance is because of their power, but that 240 looks sweet at least.

Not many with actual track experience who went in. Pity you didn't get chosen :-/. Laughing at the guy who commented about my "stock" 370 and how he should have entered.

Well this was a let down... This was my only chance to see some of the amazing builds on here in action! :mad:

To say it was a surprise to not see one 370Z (especially from this forum) make it into the finalists is an understatement.

I am sure the three they picked are outstanding vehicles, but it is rather sad that not a single 370Z was picked. I also thought for sure that someone on the forum (not me) was going to win ... being it was track challenge I think they should have put Mike the Powdercoater in there ... so now we will never know how a 370 stacks up against their 370Z.

Straight BS. And to think we here voted on that car build for ZDayz.
