Anyway. My dealer was hella cool. They had a GTR sitting in the showroom with velvet ropes around it and offered to have me test drive it. I declined but they did offer!

Anyway, take your business somewhere else.
I showed up wearing a worn out pair of flip flops, camo cargo shorts, and a coralife t-shirt. Ohh and my Panerai.... Salesman I bought my car from noticed my Panerai almost immediately.

I was a car salesman for a few years. And I learned from mistakes, and also learned what to avoid.

I sold cars in S. Cali, and it's very unpredictable to judge someone by their image. You'll meet some really wealthy people who wear "down to earth" clothes and drive everyday cars such as Camrys and Ford pickups who could cut you a check for a $100,000+ car out of their personal account.

I noticed that people who exert themselves as "rich," typically aren't. And in the opposite respect, you'll come across those who are the quiet understatement "old money" types who don't act nouveau riche.

If you ask a lot of questions in regards to payment, insurance cost etc. out on the lot, then salesman will think you can't afford it because of the cliche "if you have to ask, then you can't afford it." They'll try to switch you to a cheaper trim or model. They qualify you.

If you're calm and composed, then they'll let you test drive it no problem. Don't be pushy though, they'll sense that you just want to joyride it.

No, the #1 rule is even simpler than that: "He who has the gold rules." - and it's always the customer who has the gold, not the vendor!

WOW, what an idiot...

When i got my 350z i was wearing jeans and a band t-shirt. my 00 sentra would not start and i had it towed to the dealership (thinking it was a alarm issue b/c it would to turn over or do anything) to have to look at it and of course i walked the lot bored waiting on word of my car, turned out i had to ignition wiring problem so i told them to keep it and i drove home in a 350z (which i had always wanted). the salesmen was a good guy and he helped me get a good deal and i have already talked to him about getting my 370z after i get back from deployment.

That's funny because every dealer I went to was more than courteous and very professional. I must have visited 6 different dealerships. I still can't find my 370z. Looking for a touring with nav and sport, manual transmission with splash and mats, red with gray interior. has anyone seen my car?!!

There are good dealers and there are bad dealers (no matter what make you are talking about)...just be sure that you give your patronage to the good ones; the bad ones will either get better or go out of business...problem solved.

I'm young gun and figured I would not receive good help when looking for my 370, but I called ahead to the closest dealership to where I live (about 70 mi. away) and the salesman was very kind and told me to get up there and take one for a drive. I drove up later in the afternoon and the first thing my salesman did was throw me the keys and said "have fun and see you in a bit". Well upon my return I told him where I needed to be out the door and needless to say the car was in my drive way that evening (I did have to go back the next day for my truck which I had them check over). I guess it just depends on the dealership and the person you work with. I would have been skeptical if I was my salesman but I guess not being that way paid off in the end for him. I am big into friendly down to earth dealerships and that is how my dealership treated me, and for treating me well I plan to treat them well.

Thanks! Im sure you will find a dealer that gives you the proper dealer support. I can not believe how rude that first dealer was. In a small town setting that dealer would never live.

I went to the same dealer a couple of weeks ago to test drive a used 370Z that they had in stock and yes the salesman was a tw*t. He didn't let me drive the car, probably didn't like the look of me. So I went to Westway Nissan in Oxford and bought a brand new 2010 370Z.

His loss!

Paul.

something similar happened to me. I was 20 years of age when I walked into nissan dealership alone to actually buy the 370z. They didnt take me seriously and didnt even let me test drive it. I then went to another dealership and picked up my Z couple days after. Few weeks after I got the Z, I went to the first dealership (that didnt take me seriously) to get some accessories for my car. I then ran into the same sales person that was being a @sshole to me by not taking me serious. I then told him that I actually bought the car from another dealer as I flashed the Z key upto his face. The sales person looked at me in regret. As I walked away from him, I whispered to myself "there goes your 45k biatch"

They didn't have the car I wanted, so they made the first dealer send the car I test drove over and I left with it that day . I'm still contemplating going back to the first dealer who originally had the car and asking them if anything looked familiar.
I'd just wait until it needed warranty work and take it back to the first dealer
make them fix something on their dime

Nobody takes me seriously when I go into a showroom. Not even at Honda dealerships. I went to at least 15 Nissan dealerships.

I've been told 1. "Where's mommy and daddy?" 2. "Which bank did you rob to afford this car?" 3. "Sorry, I must have mistaken you for someone important." 4. "I'm sorry, are you lost? This is a Nissan dealership and this is a 370z you're sitting in."

Well, long story short, I bought my 370z from the first and only dealership to even spare me an hour of their precious time.

I know exactly what you two mean. I'm 19 and I really have decided on a 370z. A few weekends ago, I went into Victory Nissan in Richmond to test one out for myself. I parked and one of the greeters came out and said hi. The guy seemed new and I asked him if I could take one of the Z's out for a spin, let alone take a look at it. He said he'd get the paper work ready but that he'd have to run it by his manager first. While I filled out my info. and he got a copy of my license, his manager came out and sat in front of me. It was pretty awkward since we both just sat there without saying a word. Finally he asked me what I wanted and I told him I'm looking into buying a 370z so I wanted a test drive. He began by asking me how I would pay for one and how much one costs (it was an odd question to ask me) so I told him around 30k (I know they cost quite a bit more new but I wanted to go on the lower end of the spectrum); I'd pay in cash. He immediately snubbed me out and said they were 35-45k. I told him I wanted to buy one slightly used (maybe with <10k miles). Suddenly, he got up and said that owners don't like having a large amount of miles on Z's and so I couldn't test one out. He left rudely and left me with the novice greeter. I could see that everyone had lost interest in me, the customer. The greeter said I could still take a look if I wanted so we went out to the lot and there were about 5 Z's out there in a row. I opened the first and sat in it while the man went to get the key. He came back after maybe HALF AN HOUR! And he had the wrong key. Finally, he had the right one and he told me I could power the car on. I held the key, pushed the start button....and nothing. The car was dead. I asked if I could try out another, and he said he "had all the time in the world." I get into the next one, the interior lights do not come on, it's dead. All five of their cars were completely drained (and these were all 2010 models). I took a look at each of their rotors and they ALL had buildup. I felt a lot of satisfaction that they weren't selling. In a couple months, I shall purchase a Z from a different dealer and drive it over there to rub it into their faces Sorry for the long story. Just thought i'd vent.
