Just curious as to how many of you use run flat tires and don't carry a spare anymore? Do you feel safe using run flats? As in your rims won't be ruined by using them in their intended way?

Except for track days, I carry a spare.

My roadster didn't come with a spare just a fixaflat kit in the trunk :driving:

Too heavy to carry...

I leave it in the car.

I still have mine on, but I plan to take it out this summer when I relocate my battery to the rear. I'm concerned over weight distribution if I don't relocate my battery.
With TPMS and AAA, I really don't need one, and it's a huge chunk of weight.

I'm going to try to get spares put on all around and put one of the rear 19x10.5 wheels in the trunk.

/gotta be different

except all you are doing by taking out the spare is further increasing the front bias of weight distribution on your cars which are already twitchy on mid corner bumps with stock supsension. so taking wiehgt out of the rear will only further exagerate this issue

I have Triple A

No spare, idk if i have AAA or not either. Took it out to fit all 4 sport wheels and haven't bothered to put it back on. For those wondering, it IS possible to fit 4 wheels in a Z  Just gotta remove the spare and the left side tools (scissor jack, etc.)

Yeah I keep my spare in the car and have AAA too because my dad has an acct with them. Run flats don't always help as much as a spare tire. Last year I was with my cousin and we got stuck on the side of the highway because he had a flat. Only problem was that the threads of his tire where coming apart so even driving on the run flat wasn't a safe option. If he had a spare we could have swapped it out real quick, but ended up having to wait hours for his brother to bring us another wheel (luckily he has 2 sets of wheels) we could put on. Also, it was a good thing this was coming home from my college graduation and not on the way there. :icon17:

my cars have spares. i too dont like to wait for people or truck. and even if a flatbed arrived, i dont trust them not scratching my car or wheels.

that little 30lbs or watever is not going to make much of a difference in street driving. if im tracking/autox the car, will remove it on the site at the event. :)

:iagree:

Why wait for hours when you can do it yourself in like 20-30 mins.

yep. i have a dedicated breaker bar in each car with socket(s). it's very quick.

Jbwrecked 01-30-2013 01:49 PM

^damn straight same here. Along with a torque wrench as well

bfowlzr33 01-30-2013 01:53 PM

Personally I'd rather have the spare just incase instead of waiting and paying a bill or two for towing lol:happydance:
