Which will age better? 350z or 370z?

Hey guys,

Just a random question that I thought would make for a good friendly topic.

Which do you think would personally age better (looks wise) a 350 or 370z?

When the 300zx's came out I'm sure they were gorgeous. IMHO while I still live every Z I think that the Z31 did not age that well. It has a really square 80s style look to it and it is my least favorite Z. On the other hand the Z32 has seemed to defy time with aging and still looks great afer 20 years.

So my question is which do you think will look better 20 years down the road? The 350 or the 370? Only based on looks/ cosmetics. I really like the curvy lines of the 370 but I wonder how well it would age compared to the 350 and Z32 300zx.

It's nothing serious just always a question/ discussion I wanted to have with some Z guys. :tiphat:

EDIT: Also which would be the better car to keep for a long time?

DEpointfive0 01-25-2013 04:18 PM

370Z, I think the lines flow better... Then again, I have always hated the 350Z...

I think the Maxima will age almost as good too actually

danegrey 01-25-2013 04:20 PM

the 370z, for it reminds me of the 240z just grown up....

Chuck33079 01-25-2013 04:22 PM

I'm more partial to the 370 than the 350. There was just something a little "off" about the 350 to me.

Bucketlist2012 01-25-2013 04:23 PM

Having owned everything from a 240Z, 280ZX,300Z,300ZX and 350Z and now a 370Z.....

I would have to say the 370Z...

I did love the sound and off line torque of the 350Z more, but as far as a total package ?

The 370Z...

Interesting. That's so awesome! You've owned almost every Z? Which would be your 2nd pick behind the 370?

And you don't think the 370's styling will age bad like the Z31 did? (Not trying to hate on the Z31 lol it just lost it's "aggressive" look as it aged)

Chuck33079 01-25-2013 04:44 PM

I guess I'm weird. I like the Z31. Tried to buy a ten-year old one in high school because my buddy had one too. My parents shut that down pretty quickly.

JungleZ 01-25-2013 04:53 PM

No comment because I hate the 350z and shouldn't be a bashing thread

I think Second is the 350Z...I traded my White 300ZX for the 350Z....The 350Z was such an improvement over the 300ZX..

Third is the 300ZX...I ran special Brakes and Pirelli P7's on it and it was crazy fun, Rain or shine...

Fourth is the 240Z for the History of it...I actually had Square Bias Ply tires on that one...

Didn't care much for the Red 300Z..Although the first V-6, it looked Bloated..

And of course I kept my 1971 Z/28 throughout owning all the Datsun and Nissans...

Wow. That's quite a list of great cars. I'm supremely jealous.

So out of owning all these Z's the 370 is the best overall one in your opinion?

I know this is gonna make me sound stupid but when I finish college I want to get either a 350 or 370Z but I'm torn as to which one to go for. If I was fortunate enough to purchase either one I would be looking to keep it for a long time and make it "my baby". I have a few years to go but I'm still dreaming :icon17:

The 370Z would be the better one if I could afford it?

The 350's just going to keep getting older while you finish up college. Just get the 370. I'm biased because I don't like the 350, but I'm right anyway.

Or go much older and find a 240/260/280.

Kingbaby 01-25-2013 05:14 PM

nismo edition of both Z33/Z34 are cars to keep the Nismo Z33 becuase of it's numbering but the doesn't matter seeing they will all be wrecked in due time making numbers more rare!

Z34 is chunky!

I also like the styling cues from the 240. I love the 350 though. It would be a hard pick for me. Idk why but I feel like the 350would age better for some reason. Anyways its just a stupid idea. The truth is that it comes down to how the car performs.

Very nice sexy Z28 btw!

SouthArk370Z 01-25-2013 05:26 PM

My ideal Z would be a 350 front end with a 370 rear (<3 dat fat azz), but my all-time favorite is the original 240. Probably has more to do with nostalgia than anything else. ;)

Least favorite is the boxy 300 (1983–1989 Z31). ewwwwww

Thanks...The "Beast" is track ready and lots of Fun.

Also i washed my 350Z the morning I traded it in, and then I washed the 370Z when I got home...Quite anal..

But every line is different on the 370Z..I could feel the difference in the hood, doors, glass, roof, sides, ect...

Just a completely different Car...Much sweeter and Manly is the 370Z...

Also you see way more 350Z's...I have yet to see a 370Z in my town...But plenty of 350Z's...

ATLsentra05 01-25-2013 05:50 PM

Thanks for the input guys! I appreciate it!

You are honeslty right. I see 350s not too often but I still run into them.

I have only seen a 370 once or twice in the last couple of years..

I guess they will be some of the "rarer" Z's..

Bucketlist2012 01-25-2013 05:53 PM

Good luck with getting your "Z"....

ATLsentra05 01-25-2013 05:57 PM

Thanks man I really appreciate it! :)

edk370 01-25-2013 06:23 PM

Although I'm no longer a 370 owner, I gotta say the 370 hands down.

The 350 was meant to appease the Z fans by offering a Z car from a 6 year hiatus. Remember, the 300ZX (Z32) got too expensive when it was sold brand new. Unfortunately, the Z33 cut a lot of corners wrt to interior, using a mass produced corporate engine (VQ V6) rather than an exclusive engine VG30DETT (Z32 TT), etc. The Z32 was de facto a $60,000+ car in today's money, adjusting for inflation [1.03^20 x $35,000 = $63,000 ].

IMO the Z32 TT will always be my favorite (and ageless) Z, with the Z34 coming in second....It's too bad that many of the Z32s out there are either riced out, hammered, etc.

Jasonle 01-25-2013 06:36 PM

370z is so nice looking.

Tribalpinoy91 01-25-2013 06:45 PM

370 any other generations with the exception being the 350 look like redneck 2001 camaro esque POS.

11Thumper 01-25-2013 07:47 PM

The 370 will age better...

until the 390 comes out. :D

Lol the irony, what does it make your car then knowing it evolved out of this camaro esque pos?

Here is my non bias opinion, I owned both a 350z and a 370z, both are now gone.

I believe both will age well but if nissan doesn't carry over the 370z styling to next gen z (I am talking arrow/catfish head and taillights) then we have a big problem and the z34 will become the designers 'mistake'

but from a collectors point of view, 10-15 years from now I would like to have both, the z33 and z34 to watch the evolution before my eyes.

HArturo319 01-25-2013 07:55 PM

I always got comments with my 350z as a girly car. I haven't recieved such nonsense with my 370. I'm always been a fan of the 240 which has a timeless looks. So sexy. I want one so bad as a project car, and in the future I will own one. I think the 370 has a balance of unique, aggressive, well balanced style. The 350 was just too... rounded.

cooltoy 01-25-2013 08:26 PM

It all depends on how the car is done. Stock, any car will age, but with good mods to keep it fresh and different, one can keep a car looking good longer.

This is pretty hot for example.

CDepp 01-25-2013 08:34 PM

I would say the 370, but it's personal taste.

I think the 370 is superior to the 350, but the 350 broke some good milestones since the last Z. Those milestones were refined, reset, and many broke again with the 370.

axmea? 01-25-2013 10:13 PM

If you take care of any sports car, it will age gracefully. Have you been to some meets? I've seen some better looking 350's compared to some 370's out there.

Idk if you guys keep up with new about the next Z but supposedly it will be small and compact like the BRZ. And also no more VQ motor. It will be a 2 liter turbo. So the next Z will be a 2something Z? I hate it. I wish they would keep that awesome V6. And the concept car looks nothing like the current Z's styling which someone said earlier would be bad lol..

I don't think this is something that can really be predicted until we see the direction of other vehicles, and even the next Z.

Personally, I like both the Z33 and Z34 for different reasons.

DarkJak 01-25-2013 11:59 PM

I think the biggest difference lies in the hatch and rear quarter window lines The 370's resemble the 240's more than the 350. And I think it's a safe statement to say that the 240Z has aged really well. So I think the 370 will age better than the 350, it's style has more vertical motion due to how the window cuts up.

the next z will be just that... a "z". they are removing the numbering due to its relation to the motor size. since they will offer various engines with the new model, it doesnt make sense to name the same body with a different motor a different name each other. From the start of the next gen, it will forever be called a Nissan "Z".....We are the final identifiables...... lol

DufDaddy 01-26-2013 02:29 AM

I would assume that on this site that the 370 is going to win out. I am another with the opinion that something just wasn't right about the 350, I thought that it was a great looking car until you got to the back half and it was like they forgot something. The NISMO 350 is sharp, but other than that I will vote that the 370 will hold a stronger appreciation both inside and outside of the Z community.

forza370z 01-26-2013 02:56 AM

From the mathematic point of view, 370 > 350 > 300 > 280 > 240 > 1. So you tell me which one age better.

Second thought?

The answer is still 370 handsdown. Why? Coz your on a 370z forum.:icon17:

I created a poll for the same/similar matter before. Maybe you all want to take a look and vote for your favorite Z car. But remember, your on a 370z forum! JK JK...:p

ATLsentra05 01-27-2013 03:59 PM

Haha I guess you guys are right.. Being on a 370 forum the answer will most likely be the 370. I honestly love all Z's but I love the 350s and 370s...

Would be a hard pick but the 370 def has more potential IMO :D

I appreciate the feedback guys!
