Windows rolling down

Has anyone experienced having your windows magically roll down 2 to 3 inches.

I just woke up and they were open...AFTER A RAIN STORM.....

I just spent an hour trying to dry the inside...

I am waiting for the Wife to get up and ask her if she did it..She likes to roll them down in the Summer..

BUT IT IS WINTER.....

kenchan 01-24-2013 10:43 AM

hi bucket! yah, i think i read in the interior section of this forum some guy complaining about the windows rolling down all by itself.

conclusion was he must have sat on the button or something while in his pants. it's not like some pos windows pc where things change all on its own. lol :stirthepot:

hope you can suction all that out with a shopvac or something. :)

speedfreek 01-24-2013 10:44 AM

Were the doors unlocked when you found it like that?

If so it sounds like one of you could of accidentally held the unlock button down to long rolling the windows down to whatever position they were in.

If not then someone has some explaining to do!

Bucketlist2012 01-24-2013 10:50 AM

Oh man....

Then if the keyfob was in MY pocket yesterday, and somehow the other keys pushed on the button, it could be MY fault ?

Uh oh.....THat is why I ask you guys BEFORE I ask the wife...

It could have been MY fault....

I will make sure to keep the Car Locked ...And watch when I have the keys in my pocket...

Dang.....It might have been ME.....

kenchan 01-24-2013 10:52 AM

hahaha. :icon17: probably best just to dry the car and have moderator delete this thread. :rofl2:

snowhite370 01-24-2013 10:56 AM

And was it because of the Keyfob ?

Bret86944 01-24-2013 11:01 AM

On the 350z if the window motor was starting to go bad it would go down a couple inches after the door was shut.

Was it both sides or just one? The problem only happens to the window that has the bad motor.

Bucketlist2012 01-24-2013 11:45 AM

Yes, I feel like an Idiot.

My Wife doesn't go on this site so I am safe.

The leather looks a little wrinkled at the bottom near the doors...

I think I will just forget that this happened and I won't mention to the Wife at all...

I have you all to thank for that...THANKS for the Info...

No keyfob in the pocket.....

Bucketlist2012 01-24-2013 01:14 PM

Having Coffee with the Wife....Not mentioning what happened. No need to stress her out. I stressed for the both of us..

Keyfob has been removed from my keychain....

NickTurnon 01-24-2013 01:25 PM

This same thing happened to me Bucketlist!

I spent awhile with a fan in the car and doors wide open.

I just always pull my keys out of my pocket now when i am sitting down at my desk or at my house..

Don't you love this website?
And don't worry, plenty of times I leave Starbucks and crap myself that the doors are unlocked and my windows are down

Thank god nothing was ever stolen...

Bucketlist2012 01-24-2013 01:56 PM

Yes, I love this website...

And it could have rained harder and the windows could have been open more, so I got kinda lucky...

A little damage on the leather but oh well..

gbrettin 01-24-2013 02:02 PM

Is there an option to disable the remote windows?

I do it all the time with the key fob in my pocket, mine is usually in the garage though when it happens haha it did take me a while to figure it out.

bigsix 01-24-2013 11:24 PM

Don't matter... Questioning your wife? It would be your fault at the end anyways.:shakes head:

bigsix 01-25-2013 12:44 AM

^ ^ Yep, be careful what you say and admit to!

axmea? 01-25-2013 01:14 AM

Lot's of magic happens when you own a Z but rolling windows ain't one of them. Hope you did not ask your wife about it or imply it was her who rolled it down (accident or not). The wrath of a PO'd wife is worse than drying your car for an hour.

In a man/woman relationship, it's the man's fault.

I bet there is. Yesterday, I took my car to the dealership to have them put the ECU in "mode 4". They then adjusted the timeout of my auto-off-headlamps from 180secs to 60secs and my blinker settings to blink 3 times when I slightly lift/drop the turn signal lever.

dweedlebug 01-25-2013 08:42 AM

Hold the presses a minute. I know I don't spend as much time on here as I may want to, but ....

"... ECU in "mode 4" ... adjusted the timeout of my auto-off-headlamps from 180secs to 60secs and my blinker settings to blink 3 times when I slightly lift/drop the turn signal lever."

What are all the possible ECU modes and what are the differences?

I'd love to have the headlamp auto off time decreased and always liked rentals hat had the tap-to-flash-blinker-3times feature.

I just thought it wasn't an available feature. How much is customizeable like this on the car?

Good question. If any Nissan Service Techs subscribe here, that would be a very useful bit of knowledge.

My ECU service was no charge at Modern Nissan of Lake Norman here in NC. But, I was also getting my tpms looked at and is not the normal situation from dealerships from reading the forums. :hello:

NOTE: My blinker stopped doing the tap-to-flash 10 miles out after the ECU reset. And the Service Assistant said it might stop working "in that mode", he wasn't certain of the difference between the modes either as I asked the same question. He also said that many other Nissans seem to have the tap-to-flash feature, but doesn't know why the 370Z won't keep it on.

NOTE: I bought my Z from a forum member, OppositeLock. I bought it in the DC area and drove it home 500 miles. The tap-to-flash worked up until I got it home and installed my GT-R button (disconnected battery for installation). After the battery disconnect, I had to fix the auto-open/close feature of the windows. So, I guess I lost whatever setting made it work for the first 500+ miles I owned the car.

I'll hook up my OBD2 sensor up tonight and see what I can f*ck up on my own, or at least be able to read what non-engine settings there are - alarm settings, power windows auto-open/close, headlamps, etc.

Link: PDF of 2013 Z and tap-to-flash lever (I believe) - Page 2-35 - Same content on 2011 Manual: pg 2-33

dweedlebug 01-25-2013 10:30 AM

Yes, I have read page 2-25 of the manual before and saw that.

As I had read it and understood the car's functionality, I assumed that you just have to partially hold the lever down and it flashed until you release it.

Pintsize725 01-25-2013 10:58 AM

Mr. Bucket, where have you been and why haven't you posted in the other thread? :hello:

Bucketlist2012 01-25-2013 11:00 AM

It is because of you Guys and Gals on this Forum that I got the Information that I needed BEFORE I asked my Wife anything.

You people on this forum rock....

My Wife does not even know it happened, and my Keyfob is not in my pocket on my keychain anymore..Problem solved.

Some slight damage on the Leather side pieces ,wrinkling, but I will call that "normal wear"...

Man, without checking with you people, I would have confronted her and asked her if she did it.....You think I feel stupid now ? That would have been suicide and it would have cost me my dignity...

Okie dokie. I can send a customized command to my system. Anyone know what command to send to change crap? :rofl2:

Side note, since my reflash the other day at the dealership, I've had no misfires....all kinds of cool info from Torque Android App.

Kenny 01-28-2013 05:24 PM

This happened to me once!

I accidentally rolled down my windows when it was sprinkling in a shopping center parking lot. Luckily nobody noticed my car; it was unattended, windows down, unlocked, parked far away in the dark, and my wallet and MacBook Pro were in a backpack tucked behind the passenger seat. I was away from my car for a little over an hour. When I returned, my heart nearly sank to my stomach when I saw it sitting there with the windows down.

I'm way more careful now because of it, but I sometimes have a nagging suspicion that my car is unlocked as I'm walking away from it. It always happens when I'm just far away enough that the remote doesn't work.

I've found myself leaving my fiance halfway to a building, usually in the middle of a parking lot, while I jog back to make the car alarm beep because I was 'just' too far out of range. Some paranoia is healthy.

BeemaaZ 01-28-2013 09:42 PM

I am not a fan of this feature. Is there a way to disable it? Happened to me once when I parked on the street visiting my buddy in LA. Found both windows wide open at 6AM almost had a heart attack!
