I had both my brothers who have been driving manual cars 10+ years and my friend who has been driving for 3 years. I feel I'm as good if not better than them, Its rare when I have the issue. I honestly do feel its the car more than its me, but time will tell. And when I change the trasmission oil that will hopefully help.

Lastly the only thing I have not been able to pick up so well is Taking off Super Fast! The first time I let my friend drive the car he took off so fast and when he shifted gears my head you went back and hit againsnt the sit like in the movies Crazy. I have yet to replicate that.

1. Turn of VDC.
2. Rev up to 5k.
3. Dump the clutch.

Sounds scary! I'm not ready lol I really need to find a track in my area so I can go top speed and learn drifting, etc

Just kidding man.:icon17: Don't do it in public road! Yes, do it on the track or drag strip. I actually did rev up to 3k dump the clutch and the fun factor is 10 out of 10.:tup:

Pfft, the only thing keeping me from playing around like that is tire wear and the price of new tires. :icon17:

Gonna baby it for a while and get as much out of these tires as I can.

What is your way of taking of fast?

I did some basic obsevations on my way to work this morning. With SRM on or off, I get the same results. Smooth gear shifts under casual driving requires the following

1st gear accelerate to 4000 RPMs should be about 20 mph and push in the clutch. Shift to 2nd gear and release the clutch pedal as the RPMs drop to ~2800 (release steadily, not necessarily slowly, but not dumping it either).

2nd gear accelerate to 4000 RPMs should be about 35 mph and push in the clutch. Shift to 3rd gear and release the clutch pedal as the RPMs drop to about ~2500.

If you change the 4000 RPM shift to 3000 RPMs then the engine RPMs will drop to ~2400 and ~1900 for 2nd and 3rd gears, respectively. Watch the tach needle when you release the clutch and see if it jerks slightly up or down before settling at the engine's desired RPM - if you see this or you hear the engine rev itself those are indications that you missed the butter zone for the shift (this is easier to see when the RPMs drop below the ideal mark)

Note that all pedals should be operated smoothly without mashing on them or dumping them. My recommendation if you can't get to a track is find a large enough empty parking lot and practice these shifts (include 4th too if you have room)

i think alot of daily drivers don't like to revup to 4k

I did that on the way home and on the way in this morning and noticed the same.

I did notice too that if I waited a little longer to release the clutch pedal it was quite a bit smoother, like Scope said.

I only got 8k out of the stock rear tires :shakes head: :driving:

So far I have resisted the urge to spin my new set.....

Didn't buy it just to commute in it. Gotta have some fun! :stirthepot:
