it also has Nismo suspension though...it's for a different market. It's for people that plan to track regularly. Although if it was really designed for the track then why leave out the oil cooler???

I personally did not get it because I like my creature comforts like leather, nav etc...

zman1910 07-10-2009 10:33 PM

The car is not designed for track purposes......it's just suppose to look like it is.

initialgemini 07-10-2009 10:38 PM

Personally, I wouldn't buy it because I plan on modding the car down the line. But if you're someone who doesn't really want to touch the car, and just wants something great out of the box, then I can see how it would be "worth" it.

I hope you are kidding. As it was designed for the track by Autech.

Tim 07-10-2009 10:58 PM

so you get the nismo seats, the authentication, nismo badges, wheels, bumpers sides and spoiler. with an h pipe instead of y and a red cover and +18 hp

on a track the nismo fails to improve track times and a few times it's slower by 0.1 seconds on the 0-30/60/75/100 and also the 1/4 mile

the suspension is done up a lot better

the car is worth getting for probably: showing off, fact that it is a nismo, and for an enthusiast
but not worth if you want a car to mod since you can just mod the non-nismos

the only thing you get out of the car is that it is the nismo trim

its like buying a touring instead of base, just for the features (thats how i'd put it)
but instead of "intelligent" features you get "physical features" with a tad of better handling

the performance part wont make much of a difference since it is heavier

-back to your question: is it worth it?
i would say it is worth as much as its worth buying a 370 that's base or touring or with sport for their prices. it's just a different trim like the roadster.
so i'm not saying yes or no, it is what it is, buy it if you like pass if not.

i like the stock body look so i will be buying a non-nismo myself

hope this helps :icon17:

Take a look at my sig. Next week I'll add to that with stainless brake lines and more suspension parts.

Is the Nismo worth it? Not when I see what's sitting in my driveway. :)

StLRedrider 07-10-2009 11:49 PM

Nice looking, i'm happy with what i got.

RCZ 07-11-2009 12:39 AM

Just like before, not worth it. Although the body parts look pretty.

SMJane_Again 07-11-2009 07:12 PM

Huh. The Nismo is supposed to be for the track, yet there is no oil cooler... on a platform that people have already complained has oil overheating issues. And you're spending 7 grand more than a Base/Sport (probably less negotiation room since it's a 'limited edition'), for as already stated, some body bits, some badging, and 18bhp. Wow.

To paraphrase James May 'What you have here is a car dressed up with the tinsel of high performance.'

Gotta say, if I was doing a Nismo, I would've done this for 7 grand (and of course Nissan gets all their stuff at cost or lower, so this is do-able): real limited slippy diff (Quaife anyone??), good sport bucket seats (hell, Nissan owns Renault and Renault throws Recaros in their Megane and Clio high performance models, so not THAT far-fetched), suspension, brakes (even just up-rated pads/rotors/fluid), an OIL COOLER, and a body kit... maybe a carbon hood a la the Megane R.26R. An exhaust. Painted wheels for some differentiation. And a couple of Nismo badges. If there's time.

Anyone else think about how they'd do up a Nismo Z?

S.

alexanderb 07-11-2009 07:22 PM

Doesn't anyone think the Nismo looks too much like the 350? Personally, I like the fangs on the 370... hehehe

NIZMOZ 07-11-2009 08:05 PM

Dunno about the 370z NISMO but the 350Z NISMO was a remarkable improvement especially on the track.

Remember the car is not designed for 1/4 it is designed for Road Courses and that is where the NISMO shines.

Of course from the last two years with the NISMO 350Z, people who don't own and talk like this are just jealous and don't know anything about it because they have never driven or been in one to actually see how good they handle.

But then again mine has seam welds and the 370z didn't get those. When I drove the 370z NISMO I felt it to be softer than mine and felt like it wouldn't handle as good. So is it worth it on the 370z, probably not, but it was on the 350z.

...and that's based on your professional opinion having driven both on the track right? Personally I don't like the front bumper both in looks and the additional length. I don't think its the best value and I'd rather do my own upgrades however its not fair to say its not designed for the track as its upgrades are quite obviously designed for better track times....
