First mods;

Drop ins
Exhaust system
Suspension
Front Lip

I think that would be all for me other than Rims later on, but I am good with the 19" RAYS on black.

sensi09 12-11-2008 02:25 AM

If I were to get a 370 right away, probably just springs. A simple, worthwhile mod that can be upgraded to coilovers if needed.

AK370Z 12-11-2008 02:42 AM

first mod = JDM tailights!! Absolutely love them

First thing is def. those first volks but in gold!
Those would look sick!
Then I'd get those jdm taillights!

Wheels and coilovers

Endgame 12-11-2008 07:21 AM

Nismo exhaust, Nismo lowering springs/shocks, wheels. doing them all at once.

cow 12-11-2008 07:39 AM

Wheels. Not sure which, but I'll have them sitting in my garage with tires for when I get home.

Ryephile 12-11-2008 09:22 AM

I'll take a calculated approach to modding the Z. First, I'll need to drive the car! Then I'll find out what aspects could use improvement to make it a more well-rounded sports car. Just from this side of the monitor, I'd want to lower the car about an inch to really nail the stance. In order to do that I'll measure the stock suspension, check spring rates and roll centers in order to know what I'm getting myself into to get that stance. Lowering spring of selected rates would be excellent if they don't sacrifice too much compression travel and the car doesn't need different dampers, however most likely a set of coilovers from the likes of JIC or KW would make for a nice riding and excellent handling setup while having great stance. After that, we'll have to start lobbying brake pad companies to start making more compounds available for the Sport pack brakes. I'd like to see both low-dust fast street pads and all out drop-the-anchor race pads become available quickly.Cheers,Ryan

You sound like you know exactly what you're doing. When and if you do this, please update us. I would love to see pics and a review.

RCZ 12-11-2008 01:59 PM

Ryephile, you want to do what companies like KW and Cusco do for you hehe. I would opt for a nice set of damper adjustable coilovers like the KW's to do some suspension tuning. In the end you wont be building the springs yourself, but buying them from a company like these so all your calculations would only go to choosing one or the other...

I definitely like your approach though, keep us updated on which path you take...

bboypuertoroc 12-11-2008 03:12 PM

My first mods will all be done at the same time.

I guess technically it's going to be suspension, but that plus wheels will be on there same day.

Depending on how much money I have from the possible part out of my Evo I'll prolly pick up all available bolt-ons as well.

No 5 point, probably just a 4 point. With the Harness bar thats going to be behind the seats.

batman_4 12-11-2008 05:54 PM

1) i think i will get a small drop on springs to start off until coilovers start coming out and maybe some small spacers to push out the stock 19s to hold me off on rushing into a rim purchase (want to check out how the 370 will look with diff. wheels).
2) also smoke out certain details on lights (not whole lights)
3) intakes (if they help)
4) exhaust or rims which ever i feel like 1st

RCZ 12-11-2008 08:02 PM

How come you are going to push out the stock wheels with spacers?

sensi09 12-11-2008 08:21 PM

Spacers are primarily for look but can increase stability due to a wider track. If the wheels are flush with the fenders, it looks much better.

RCZ 12-11-2008 08:23 PM

Damnit sensi lol, I wanted to see what he was going to say...

just to aesthetic reasons while i save up money for some rims (college owns me), i hate when a car is dropped and the tire seems to be tucked in under the fender, the spacer will make the wheel sit flush which i can live with while i save money for aftermarket wheels

audioqueso 12-11-2008 10:37 PM

EXHAUST!!! I wanna drive a car that sounds GREAT!

Tires and Exhaust and call it a day......done done done.......Hope the car will be competitive in Solo II whereever stock class it falls in.

I might be wrong but I've always understood it (a roll cage) as a necessity if you were planning on using racing seats with racing harnesses. The reason I was given was that factory cars will definitely deform in the case of a serious roll over accident, in which case a seat belt will keep you from flying out of the car but also allow you some play to avoid being completely crushed in the cabin. If your car rolls over and your roof collapses.... you aren't moving an inch with a 4 point harness, and your neck/head/spine could be severely injured.
So it seems like it would be better to run stock safety restraints until/unless you install a roll cage, in which case a racing harness would definitely be safer.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do or anything, I'm just sharing information that I have been told so that you might be aware of any possible dangers. If I'm mistaken, feel free to correct me.

shumby 12-13-2008 12:22 AM

^^^^^ that makes sense
