Camaros actually gain 0 HP from exhaust...we gain a lot HP from headers if anything...and I highly doubt a Camaro can keep up with a Z in the twistied but in a drag race its a driver race leaning to the SS jus because of the torque they have in em

NitrousZ34 12-12-2012 10:21 PM

Camaros are really not all that fast. I have driven a 2012 SS with full bolt ons and a tune and I wasn't impressed at all. They are just to heavy and you can feel it while you drive.

Venom SS 12-12-2012 10:27 PM

they are heavy but when they get rolling and you get on it...not many cars can keep up with

tonybui 12-12-2012 11:12 PM

So... the brothers are here?

The thing is, they don't feel fast at all. I drove a friends SS shortly after he bought it and running it hard through 2nd and 3rd was not that exciting. The Z still gives me a thrill through those gears!

One of the two, the 350 owner.

NitrousZ34 12-14-2012 05:55 PM

1st and 2nd gear felt the same as my 350z but 3rd gear was what surprised me. A lot of cars can keep up with one haha

Big difference between going fast and driving excitement. While a camaro technically is marginally faster. A Z feels very fast in the low gears, seating position is way more sport oriented, suspension is stiffer, slalom feels so much smoother and connected to the road. And we can get to 60 way faster than any other NA v6 under $60k

Just the fact that we do what we do with an "inferior engine says a lot. The Camaro wins on torque delivery and range. In manual. The camaro can lose to a Z. if the driver can't switch em well. An automatic Z can be a camaro's worst nightmare though when comparing stock. That's where its really a drivers race. From a rolling 60? The camaro wins hands down. Still impressive with. Almost 100 less hp and 130lbs of torque.
500lbs difference makes these two totally different cars though.
So both should be respected.

You totally nailed it and i couldnt agree with you more. :bowrofl:

So as far as me....

I am a car enthusiast and i respect all makes and models except the cars that try to be like the fast and furious with loud exhaust pipes and super huge wings.

These are called ricers here, and there are dime a dozen. :rofl2:

I thought Camaros were cool for about 1 week until I saw 500 of them over the course of a week and got tired of them altogether. The Z is a benchmark for sports car value just as the GT-R is a benchmark for supercar value. It is inevitable that all other car owners will feel compelled to compare to either one. This is the behavior of someone that is threatened and is convincing themselves that they are worth something and need validation from everyone they encounter. Poor sap. :stirthepot:

E46 M3 has weak subframes and will crack if launched too hard.

I would know that because i owned 2 Z's and an E46 M3.

.....

Really? I didn't know that about the M3. What is your thought on the new 1 series? Really the frame would crack? Wow. :shakes head:

this is why I decided to go with the Z. I hate pulling up to the stop light and seeing myself. An expensive habit, but I spent years in a honda civic (great car BTW) but I was like every other car.

No Honda's were hurt in the making of this comment.

At the end of the day, I don't care what you drive; just drive. If it makes you happy... say go for it! I just can't get the Porsche Camen S out of my head though. If the maintenance wasn't so damn expensive on them. Anyone here owned one? What was the cost of a typical oil change with full synthetic oil?
Pros/Con's?
