Z's a dying breed ?
is it only me who is feeling that way ?
i feel like the Z community is dying out. i dont see no Z's on the road (a good thing, but also a bad thing) theres no more Z meets (not in NYC) at least. not that i know of. theres no Z events. i see no Z's in car events. theres always 1 to none Z's in car meets. (and that 1 its usually me) ... is Z's becoming a dying breed? or its just me that be traveling too much, missing everything ? just curious. |
I think a lot of ppl put there cars away for the winter and the 370z is rare to see ... at least in my area. I see more 350'. .
|
i see them too many times lol
its weird that you really don't see much on the road... but they damn sure are around.... just take a look at this cruise lol <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZJ6AOlkpoPk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> shoulda been there diddy! |
I have considered the weather situation. But I bought my car in may this year. Or April. I have seen 3 Z's on the road throughout this year and maybe 5 Z's on car meets and events (if that)
And right now I absolutely see 0 Z's out. The only 350 I see it's mine boy's. when we go to car meets. |

psssshhhh smh. No disrespect AT ALL man. i tried being cool and interacting with the Z owners from L.I. miserably fail... not sure if they just dont like me, if its because im an immigrant lol or because my car its pearl white lol. but they talk to who they only know bases lol (it seems that way) not all. also i bought a car to DRIVE. L.I. Z owners always crying about "its mad far... oh its out of my way" like you bought a car to drive around the block and go get groceries for mommy? the hell! lol. L.I. Z owners just simply WILL NOT drive outside L.I. period. unless its a caravan rolling out with a bunch of their friends FROM L.I. (as shown on the vid you posted) they aint leaving. and i personally dislike that. i love meeting new ppl, seeing new faces and new cars. reason why i always head to jersey for car meets and events. Keep in mind i H.A.T.E. Jersey. lol. but i have met so many ppl, made so many friends from there. they meet on weekly basis (without having to check if the meet it is going down or not) just go and ppl will be there. they come up to you and talk, get to know you. if you talk to them they dont make you feel weird or like the outcast... its just totally different. (in my opinion) once again i DO NOT mean to disrespect anyone, and i apologize in advance if i did. everyone i met in L.I. is pretty cool. but i just wish i would see more Z's around, ppl getting together and driving out to other boroughs and cities. im sure it would be fun. |

As I mentioned. I bought the car in may or April. I'm speaking based what I've seen/experienced since may/April until now. I know winter time and sandy situation cars will be more garaged but .... Perhaps you're right.
|
I bought my car around the same time as you. My car is a weekend driver and only comes out on Saturdays. I don't see many around the city either, although I spotted one last night. It's probably your location/timing is just off.
I'll be out and about until the first snowfall. Once that happens, it'll be garaged until Spring time. |

No, just a lot less made, see lots of 350's in my travels
see a few 370s, but if you look at the production numbers, just not a lot.... I like having a car that is not common, well almost... See I was at the autocross event in June this year and I see another 370z pull in, it was identical to mine, 2012 black cherry 6mt, sports package and it was Blackcherry:rofl2: |
Z is a relatively rare car in general. You don't even see bunch of them sitting in the dealership's parking lot either compare to altimas. And among the z owners, quite a lot of them use the Z as a weekend toy car. Plus the winter is here, it makes sense that you don't see many Zs on the road in your area. Having said that, I am sure you'd see more Zs in TX or FL or CA. But even here in New England, I bump into 370 Zs here and there. And I often go to a G35 meet in Boston. Funny thing is there are always more Zs showed up than Gs. So your statement might only apply to your area.
|
Yeah. I think all you guys are right.
I'm aware Z's aren't made as much as altimas. Perhaps the lack of time being in town also helps me to miss out all the Z's in the city. I just figured they were dying since every car event and meet I attend there's never 1. If there is its only me. I love to be the only one with it driving around. Don't understand me wrong. But it feels good to see one or two of your car around from time to time. It's like instant love lol. I go to car meets and I get a lot of attention with it. Love it. But I am definitely tired of these Hondas always trying to race me. Lol |
I see plenty of Z's right here. If the Z were dead, this forum would be too. For such a small car base, it's extremely active. Not only that, there is a healthy mod community as well. Granted there are certain aspects where that's dreadfully slow, but I don't think the Z is dying.
Though all I heard was you bjtching about people you don't know, only what you observed. |
Honestly I like my z but can't wait to get out of this 3 year lease into a car that's lighter, i just feel the 370z is too heavy. I hope the 2015 changes are true so I can get into that, if not ill be looking elsewhere. I mean the car looks amazing and handles great but is lacking something for me.

I also have a Miata M Edition I've owned, from new, for 15 years (yea, yea, Miata door cracks will now follow)----and it is true that it's lighter and therefore also fun to drive in its own way. But the Z, while heavier and sometimes even making me feel like I'm driving a submarine, is gracefully powerful, drop dead gorgeous and wonderful, also in its own way. But, yes, I know what you mean. |
Compared to the 350z, the 370 didn't sell as many, so in that respect, it's dying out. It's also more expensive though. 350s were a sub30k car. Now the 370 is more sub40k, with the price going up every year it seems. If a car meet here in nashville has 10 350's, I might only see 3 370's including mine.
|
Clearly I was speaking about NYC area since that's where I'm located.
How am I gonna talk about TX CA and etc... if I haven't even been there lol. Maybe that's how the forum it's up and running (maybe) getting a lot support from other states. I'm happy to hear that there's Z's on the road out there. In New York you don't really see them unless you go to L.I. I see 350s here and there. Very rare. And 370s from may to now ? .... I've only seen 3. And I attend car meets almost every Wednesday, Thursday and some Saturdays. A lot people keep reenforcing the "it's winter time and sandy situation" but clearly they irrelevant since there was no "winter" and "sandy" from may all the way until first/second week of September. But I understand everyone's opinion. And it does make sense. Specially the 70s being under $40k |
Come down here. There's lots of action.
|
You dont see many Ferraris or Lambos neither, doesnt mean they are dying breeds
|
Move out of NYS and you will a lot more of everything, its really New York State thats dieing a slow death.
|
It's definitely the area. In MD/VA I see tons of 370Z's on a regular basis, at least one every week or two.
|
I personally dont really think they are dying out, granted I haven't been around in awhile, but last I remeber I see a good about of Zs. Even if you argue that they are a dying breed and your a see less and less Z out there, if you ask me I don't consider it a bad thing, I think of it more so thinning out the crowd for the true Z owners.
|
You also have to remember that they only make like 10k 370Z's per year so there aren't that many out there to begin with.

Z is a dying bread ! Folks expect AWD performance and seating or 5 |
yooo bro I know what you mean around CT you prolly spot 2-3 in like a couple months. In the summer time that steps up to a couple!! But never Z never adying breed maybe a hibernating breed!!! :icon17:
|
"Hibernating breed" LMFAO.
I didn't know only 10K are made yearly. That's nice ! When I go to meets and big events and still don't see any. Sometimes 2-3. I'd figured I'd see a lot of them but. Maybe like most of you guys said. It's New York. |

but thats why I love it, its unique and not many people have one the "exclusivity" you get from driving one is the best part! :driving: |

yes lots more 350z, I drove from Atlanta to Ft Bragg, NC, and I kept track of the 350z and 370z. (i285 to i20 to i95)
350z - 8, 370z - 0 But that does not surprise me, as people are saying, more 350's were made/sold than 370s |
i will disagree i think the Z is becoming a rare car. i live in an area with around 175,000 population with 2 nissan dealers and they each had 2 370's on their lots. the z like the corvette though not in the same class, appeal to just a certain group of drivers. that's just the way it is. just my 2 cents imho if the next z isn't a smash. there could be another 5 or 6 year layoff of production.
two things imo again on the next model they have to nail is road noise and more HP.........just saying |
To be honest, I'm usually pretty busy. I'd really like to go to these meets, but other things in life have priority for me. If its outside Long Island, it means spending a whole day I usually don't have. I drive my Z year round, weather permitting and I see plenty on long island. Although I know a few that have since sold their car, there are still plenty of enthusiast if you look hard enough. It was always kind of tough getting people together, especially when I joined the forum a few years ago.
|
Come down to Houston lol. We've got a pretty good group of z owners out here that all meet up and what not.
|
You see Z's here year round. We don't have much cold weather, but the "snow birds" love it here in the winter.

Rarity is a good thing to me.
Though I just got mine, I'm sure there are a lot that show up at the weekend meets on the other side of town. There's a "show" every weekend and all types stop by. |
