Dang this really sux. Guess i cant leave a car sitting too long. Is the poison method instant? If not i'd be afraid of the bugger crawling somewhere and rotting away. In that case i might be able to trace the decay n nasty smell. The bucket method sounds effective but i cant picture dumping a bucket full of dead mice each week, etc...gross!

No poison is not instant. can take hours to days depending on what poison.

Ok I live out in mountains and have come up with pretty effective tools to rid myself of rodents from my vehicles

Buy some bounce fabric softener ( it has to be bounce) and put couple sheet under seats, in spare tire area and in little cubbies by brakes and battery under the hood. Rodents hate that smell.

Buy several mouse traps and bait them with peanut butter. Always set a couple close to each other.

If I have particularly bad problem I will bait. But make sure you bait away from the car. It's rare that mouse will die from bait in your car as they run outside to look for water usually when they have eaten rodent poison. But be careful if you have pets. You don't want them getting into poison or eating poisoned mice.

Get over dumping dead mice. It's war!

We have had mice in the garage and shed for years. We couldn't use bait as we have a dog and two cats Some of the baits use a blood thinning chemical and if the dog or cat get to the carcass they can get very sick or die. The old spring type mouse trap works for one mouse then the rest of them eat the bait So...
I set up the bucket trap in the garage yesterday afternoon...4 dead mice in the water this morning. This is amazing!!!

Having mice trouble in my yard, can't wait to get home today and set this bucket trap! I'm actually excited as I'm typing this lol, I got rid of 3 with glue traps but there's one more lurking around, can't take the chance of that little sucker damaging my car or gixxer

I would just introduce a natural predator to the environment or a smelling substance that repels them from the area. Call an exterminator, they will (should) have a line of effective products and use them around the location they are using to enter your storage.

The bucket seems like a good idea, yet the smell will probably attract them and you'll be left with always having to use it; same with any traps that attract the rodents.

Whatever your solution, I hope it works and best of luck avoiding any varmint damage!

Experience: grew up in rural Illinois in cornfield-country. '67GTO, 2 4wheelers, 3 motorcycles, and several expensive field tractors sitting in barn with possums, field mice, groundhogs, moles, etc. After a lot of $ spent in repairs and different trap-solutions that seems to intensify the number of pests, 3 cats ended up solving the problem.

Every cat I've ever had must have been like this one. Luckily where I love now I have no mice issues
