My 350z was vandalized last night :/

On Friday night I ran out of gas 3 streets below from where I live around 2 in the morning. Everyone that has a 350z knows there fuel gauges are wacky and it said I had "36" miles left till fill up but I guess not. So I just parked the car at the church where I rolled into and walked home. I was really tired so I was just going to get gas the next day with my brother. He didn't get off work till pretty late so I went with my friend after a party we went to. When I got to the car I see some stuff all over the paint and the front passages tire was making a "pshhhh" sound. My Z was also keyed on I believe every panel along with that liquid stuff. I called a tow truck guy and he called a line to get the police to come out and write up a police report. As soon as the tow guy got there he said they threw paint removal ALL over the car and into the gas tank because the cap was missing. They got my carbon fiber fenders and hood really bad. Maybe because it was carbon fiber idk. All 4 tires had puncture holes in the side walls and the paint removal had dropped on them too.

It's just sooooo frustrating to see your car like that. I know I should have rushed to get gas, but at the same time I just didn't think someone would go that far as to doing what they did especially at a church parking lot. I did not even try to start my car because of what could happen. From what I saw I think these need to be replaced and/or refinished. Front bumper, headlights, carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber fenders, mirrors, roof, pillars, doors, rear quarter panels, trunk, rear bumper, tail lights, all 4 wheels and tires, and drop the gas tank and whatever else that has to do with that and flush it. The tow truck guy said most likely the car will be considered 'totaled' and have a salvage title. I love my Z, it was my first sports car I bought when I was 18 and I have had it these last 3 years. I don't want to see it go. What are you guys thinking will happen? :/

Jasonle 11-25-2012 05:49 PM

sorry this happened to you man...:(

Felix 808 11-25-2012 06:27 PM

Man that sucks Nitrous :shakes head: Where was the church at?

We'll you really need to see what the insurance is willing to give you. If it's enough, you might be looking at getting that 370z you been thinking of.

Best of luck

Rob

SouthArk370Z 11-25-2012 07:11 PM

There seems to be a rash of vandalism and theft going on. Sorry to hear you got bit.

If the insurance company does total the car, you may be able to buy it back from them. Whether or not that would make sense for you depends on how much they pay, repair costs, &c.

Hey Rob, it was right up the street from where we both turned into, that's where I live. I have been saving up to get one, slowly but surely. I wanted to be able to have both. That would have been nice.

I have nothing against people buying back salvage vehicles, but it's just something I don't think I could ever do because of the exteme loss of value that goes with them. If it does end up being totaled and the scenario is perfect, I might buy it back just because I have so many parts on the car that are still good. I guess I just have to wait and see. I have never experienced something like this before so ill just be patient and see what happens

Japanjay 11-25-2012 08:43 PM

Off topic to a degree, but you got pics of what the paint thinner did to car paint? Always been curious if it would work the same as house paint.

new370 11-25-2012 08:49 PM

I own a body shop and I never seen a car get totaled over vandalizim so hopefully it doesn't happen in this case but on the bright side you should be able to get a new paint job door jambs and all because I would imagine the thinner dripped into the jambs

diddy535 11-25-2012 09:14 PM

:shakes head: sorry man

I have pictures on my iphone but im not sure how to post them up. It DESTROYED the paint. The tow guy took his finger and wiped some off because he said there was nothing i could do to clean it off and the paint was all gone and it was down to bear metal.

Ok good to know. It did seep into the driver side door jamb i believe. When the tow guy opened the door to unlock the steering he was wiping off that whole area. I never checked to see if it did any damage because it was late at night and i didn't want to interfere with what he was doing. I'm just worried about my carbon fiber stuff because my fenders were $800 alone. I don't know much about what it would cost to fix the car or anything but the damages seem to be into the $6000 plus range if i were to take a guess. I don't like the idea of having to drop the gas tank and having it flushed. How much would something like that cost?

Hey man it happens. It shouldn't but it does. That car has been nothing but good to me so i hate to see her like this. Maybe its a sign to move on who knows. The car is currently at a body shop and I'm going down tomorrow to talk to the owner and see how much he would charge to do the work and what his opinion is. The body shop where shes at is pretty high end custom stuff so idk if that makes much of a difference in price.

kensin0429 11-27-2012 01:26 PM

If repair cost more then 65% or 70% of what the car is worth on bluebook they will salvage it

Apoc370z 11-27-2012 01:42 PM

Wow... I am just speechless.

*note to self. Do not leave the car out doesnt matter how tired i am..

speedfreek 11-27-2012 01:48 PM

The culprit(s) should be shot on sight. ZERO TOLERANCE!!! See Nitrous this is why we can't have nice things... sucks they got you like that and hope you are able to get it back right or get enough out of it to put you in something new.

Agreed. Northern Virginia has this same problem. You can't own anything nice because there are sooo many that want it but don't work for it, so they destroy it or steal it when they can. I've had that happen a few times; made me move 70 miles south of that area. Never had an issue since.

So sorry bro! :shakes head: Perhapse there is a better outcome for you than you know.

3.7 ZPA 11-27-2012 05:16 PM

Frustrating? Jeez, I'd be LIVID. Sorry to hear man, I hope you get what you're entitled to and those pricks get what's coming to them.

LakeShow 11-27-2012 05:28 PM

Wow unbelievable man, sorry to hear that. It's just quite unbelievable we live in a society where people actually went completely out if their way and took time to vandalize your car for no apparent reason. When I hear these kind of stories it just really pisses me off and it's not even my car. :shakes head:

Bucketlist2012 11-27-2012 08:53 PM

Sorry to hear that...A lot of jealous , envious people out there....I wish they would work on their lives rather that hate those that have nice stuff....

But that is life...Hope things work out for you

mick 11-27-2012 09:02 PM

in the first few months after I got my 370z, one day I walked back to the car as another guy was also walking toward it. He saw me so he started complimenting on the car but he really didn't look like the type that liked this car. I could be wrong but I think I got pretty lucky that day.

LMBmikeZ 11-27-2012 09:48 PM

 damn sorry to hear dude hope things get better for you. Hope the pricks get anal raped and punished for what they have done! Like they say karma is bitch and I hope it catches up with them soon!

NitrousZ34 11-27-2012 11:37 PM

I went to talk to the owner of the body shop yesterday and he said I'm looking at a minimum of $10,000 in damages. Everything just started adding up. I got to actually see the car in day light and i noticed that both turn signal lights were keyed, my A pillars between the front window and tiny rear windows were keyed, and some of the paint remover did seep into the door jambs causing a little metal to show. The crappy thing is that i need entirely new lights because the paint removal ate through the tail lights and headlights. Those lights arnt cheap either. It doesn't seem like a lot but literally every part of the car needs a repaint and new parts. Ahhh and i just thought about checking the trunk jambs to see if it seeped in there too. He said most likely the car will become a write off. With the cost of paint, labor, and new parts i wouldn't be surprised if it is a write off. I should know by the end of the week what the results are.

Yeah thats what my mom said when she found out. This all happened in a CHURCH parking lot. I mean come on... A church parking lot on a early sunday morning... The only time i actually laughed was when the officer asked me "So um do you have any crazy ex girl friends that don't like you?"

Ni55anPat 11-28-2012 12:06 AM

Damn brotha :(. I hate fuckjng people

SoCalBoy 11-28-2012 12:18 AM

damn bro sorry to hear that....no Z should ever go through that. IMO alot of Z's get vandalized by jealous pple who wish they had one but can't afford it or haters cause you got a Z.:shakes head:

TheGreatOne 11-28-2012 10:27 AM

oh wow, sounds like a rediculous amount of damage, I feel for you bro :( If your Z has been as good to you as mine has been to me, I'd be livid, sad, a bunch of emotions....

Still hard to beleive people would go to such lengths to destroy someone elses property...and on a SUnday morning too, WTF

LMBmikeZ 11-28-2012 10:33 AM

Drunk F*ck tards that's who would be doing it on a sunday morning IMO! Probably some 16 year old punks thinking they are cool :shakes head:

NitrousZ34 11-28-2012 11:47 AM

Insurance called and said they will not pay to fix the car so it's considered totaled... I kind of saw this coming but I didn't want to believe it. I was planning on purchasing a 370z within the next couple months because I have been slowly saving up and I thought it would be cool to have both my 350 and a new 370. I could never see myself getting rid of my 350 that car is my pride and joy. But I think it's time to finally move on :(

Vertigo 11-28-2012 11:52 AM

Really sorry to hear about that man. I had a similar thing happen to my Honda Prelude back in 1999. It's pretty crappy when people go out of their way to deface something you're passionate about out of envy.

Hopefully the Z gets fixed and it's better than ever.

I had a 350Z and loved it...But the 370Z is so much sweeter...So your silverlining is you get to get a 370Z...Just keep an eye on it..

Get the Sport/Touring if you can...It is worth it.IMO:tiphat:

NitrousZ34 11-28-2012 05:39 PM

The damages were estimated to be $13k believe it or not and since its under comprensive coverage or something like that, i'm not even allowed to buy it back if i wanted to. They cut me a fair deal on the car so now its time to move into a 370z. I'm on a budget and I would love to get a sport package Z but I wouldn't mind getting a base model. I'm thinking either a white or MB 6 speed would be nice =)

LMBmikeZ 11-28-2012 08:05 PM

Well at least your moving up into a newer car, sad to see the old one go though!

Hope you can get what you want with the new Z, hopefully you can get one with sport pack to IMO it's worth it!

Im excited to get into a new car but at the same time i really didn't want to lose my 350. I had so much money put into that car and i could care less about that. It's the memories that go along with each car. I would love to have a sport pack but they are more expensive than the regular base model Z's =(
Unless someone is selling one for low 20s then that would be the only way i could afford one.

Kingbaby 11-29-2012 03:24 AM

Pics of this 13k damage

Sorry for your lost

hey bro have you thought about carmax? they have some pretty descent deals. You might want to go that route and get yourself a deal on a sports package Z with low mi:driving:
