Why pay more for touring/sports pack when it slows the car down?

The way I see it, get the base package with auto trans and you have the fastest 370z you can get from the dealer.

Sports pack/ Touring adds weight to the car. Auto has been shown to be faster on this car then manual.

So someone please explain, why pay more to slow my car down?

Because not everyone buys a car just for the speed. It's a daily driver for most people. I like having the whole package instead of sacraficing comfort for speed. It's fast enough for me even with all the packages.

but you would admit that the base model with auto is the fastest and best deal for the money direct from the dealer correct?

Oh yeah the Z is a great value. The auto might be faster, but it's not as fun as the 6M IMHO.

Only if you take it at 77 MPH around a corner down hill on the back of a unicorn....

the corner only happened once the overpass had ended but the speed built up from coming down the hill and then an immediate right corner + first time driving the car can make it hard for even a great driver like myself. cut me a little slack. :(

Auto is faster than standard?? Can you elaborate? Manuals average 13.3-13.5@105-107mph. Are autos in the 12's?

"Moving the shifter to the left from D to manual mode puts the car in a sporting mind-set, with the paddles calling forth sharp, lightning-quick shifts that helped this car set the quickest acceleration times we’ve yet recorded from the new Z: 0 to 60 in 4.6 seconds and the quarter-mile in 13.1 at 108 mph, quicker by 0.2 and 0.3 second and 1 mph than our quickest manual car."

Sorry pal, but your attitude to driving sucks.

With respect, you need to stop thinking that the road is your own personal race track, or you will kill someone.

On the other hand, if your online persona is a joke, it's not a funny joke, it's immature - this is a serious car forum. We like a laugh, but currently you are the joke.

That's the most sincere reply I can give - I have a shorter reply in my mind, but it breaks the forum rules.

That is the problem - you don't intend to kill anyone, but your dangerous attitude will lead you towards it.

The point of my reply is that you're driving too recklessly already, by your own admission, so please focus on quality of driving, not raw speed.

please don't judge me because i crashed a test car, it was a mistake and i admit stupid.

back to the point of the thread, i am sure you can understand my point. at the end of the day most of us want the best performance car we can get for the money.
