Completely different vehicles in every single aspect including driving experience. For modability and straight line performance, the STI is leaps and bounds more user friendly. Looks are subjective so I won't even comment on that. I also cannot comment on track times however the STI is impossibly confident in almost every situation.

I commented on looks, but I said that was my opinion.

And I commented on track times, because stock for stock, the Z's NA power, more aggressive gearing, and RWD powertrain will get it around most tracks faster. That's my assumption, at least. Start modding, and who knows? My wallet's not deep enough for all that noise.

They're both very fast cars. They're both very fun cars. Both are sitting in my driveway.

Op, Your duplicate thread in the other cars section? Was moved here.

I see no reason to have two threads on the same topic.

OP, honestly the most cost effective and reliable way for you to get that much power would be to go domestic.

I actually like the STi Hatch back. I don't really care for the 4 door version. The only thing is that the interior is just ehh!!

It's not super pretty, but the seats are well-upholstered if less supportive. The stereo is better by a lot. And it's quite roomy.

i bought both and 11' base plus sport modded as below, and picked up an sti as a daily driver..... so modded that up some too

what i decided is i dont like cars with 4 doors no matter how u cut it.... coupes for life

i didnt leave either of them stock so.... they both take to modds very well both need sound deadeding improvements

13 months later, you bump this thread for that, and the OP is the wanker? :p

You user name is spelled incorrectly. It is "Optimizer" -- with a "z".

I like helping newbs.

I auto crossed a wrx for a while. Great cars. You had have to do some work to get them to rotate. Launching them is a blast. But I can't imagine them be faster than a z, in stock form. Completely different beasts.

Oh
This is old
Sorry

Iceagetlc 10-03-2013 03:26 PM

I've owned a 350z, 370z, and an STI among other sports cars, and as far as straight line racing goes, the STI is much much faster. At the drag strips my STI with stock midpipe and intake (only an axle back) was running 12.8 @ 107 while the Z struggled to see 13's. The only Z I saw run high 12's was a twin turbo.

As for cornering, that's subjective. STI's have tons of body roll and are very weird to predict. That said I still prefer my RX8 over a 370 for turns anyway. I feel the new Z incarnation will change all of that drastically

wtf.. :wtf2:

NissanGuy23 10-03-2013 04:05 PM

If you drive like Bladesofchaos you can do 12's in a stock Z, but for us mortal humans prob only 13s

Your on crack if you think the STI handles better than the 370z. The 370z has better lateral acceleration and G's. As a matter of fact 1.01g's compared to the STI's 0.93g's. And figure eight times for the Z are 24.7 and STI is 25.1. Handling is better than the STI hands down, but regardless STI handles pretty well too. Entering corners with the Z is faster than the STI, but exit speed might be a little slower because of the AWD system vs the Z's RWD.
