I hate hearing that...but I bet it happens way more than we'd like to know.

Here is my understanding...
In the US, the car carries the insurance, not the driver. So be mindful of who you let drive your car. That said...

the car's insurance company can go after the driver's insurance company for the claim. The most you will likely be out is your dedectible, but can count as a claim against you.

I think some states it matters.

That, and your insurance always protects the other car/driver/passengers/property...not yours...

Wicked game they play.

I've been on the sidelines, but I'm going to ahead and throw the :bs: :gtfo2:

Car is replacable, you are not - at least everyone's OK.

That said, I'm curious what was done to do that if VDC wasn't turned off ;)

VDC can only do so much. If you are going too fasty even VDC will not save your a_s.

now that we all agree that the story is BS, lets accually turn this waste of a thread into something good and talk about the limits of the VCD. What can and cant it do/prevent?

370Z Purist 07-06-2009 12:02 AM

Even at 77 mph, it can probably still save your ***. Even braking or flooring the throttle, because you don't actually make the car go (remember, electronic throttle, drive by wire), it will likely override you.
VDC, or vehicle dynamic control, is literally a very advanced traction control system, and hence, can do a little more than a TCS system, but is essentially the same thing. However, VDC is capable of actually limiting the throttle.

Seriously, I haven't see so much ******** in my life. Guy thinks he's a race driver and doesn't give details. Last I heard, racing is not a government classified project.

Good idea. In this particular situation, the VDC would not have let the driver have full acceleration, at that time, which lead to the back of the car stepping out like that. Speed, steering, lateral force and wheel spin are things the computer processes many times a second.

Describe in detail. Laziness is description only adds to your discredit. As if you have any credit at all.

nurburgring 07-06-2009 12:26 AM

detail about what? the crash. what exactly would you like to know?

njmike 07-06-2009 12:31 AM

Yup, the streets are littered with carcasses of cars totaled by out of work pro race drivers.

It's a perfectly normal thing.

I don't even believe the test drive crash story. This kid has given noone any reason to believe anything he's said.

It's not hard to say what Grand Am team he raced for. There's only a dozen teams, and even if he did drive a Grand Am car, there's no prestige in buying a seat. anyone with $5k and a racing license can be a pro driver for an event. Anyone who qualified for even one event would be listed on the Grand Am website.

I'm really interested in finding out who this kid is. He made a claim that's easily proven, yet refuses to because he's just some punk kid caught in his own BS story.

370Z Purist 07-06-2009 12:36 AM

I'm done with this ****.
People can talk about the limits of VDC in a separate thread.
I'm just waiting for the lock.

Lol - I've had a good laugh checking in on this Troll thread from time to time today.... if anyone seriously believes this thread..... hehe it reminds me of this really gullible girl we knew so we wanted to see just how dim witted she really was so we told here there was a light bulb in the engine in her car and if it burnt out the engine would stop running - it was called a timing light. She went for it. I should see if she believes the story in this thread ;P

Anyhow just out of curiosity with the VDC I threw my car pretty hard around some 90 degree corners but nothing over 45 MPH and the VDC works like a champ - its unbelievable (just like this story ;) I think on an off/on ramp unless there was something crazy like a massive dip or something you'd have a hard time screwing up even at 77 MPH.... at 88 MPH all bets are off esp if you try it in a Delorian....
