Allow VA Residents To Use Radar Detectors

Thank you for stepping up and doing so, I'm sharing this with my friends and will get many signatures!

Thanks! yeah, I just updated the post today. I'm researching what arguements other states have used. The big issue might be that VA is a Common Wealth; i.e, a "do what I say, you have no rights to show how crooked we are!" state. Not really sure. I'll keep you posted though and any other argument is helpful. :tiphat:

I love it. I can walk around with my gun on my hip all over VA and cops don't care (it's legal), but if I have my radar detector on the SWAT team will pull me out of my car and beat me to death. :bowrofl:

Another law from the future Good ole U.F.A. (United Fascists of America). And if they had their way, you wouldn't have that gun on your hip either.

Think its bad in VA? Try New York City, state and many northeastern states.
Bloomberg is a dictator. Sell too much soda in NY? get fined. Smoke in your house. get fined, smoke on the street? Get fined, stand in a corner more than 5 minutes, Stop and Frisk...

Who drives the speed limit? :icon08:

I only follow the speed limit in neighborhoods. Otherwise it's 5-10 or more over.

Signed! I've thought about getting a radar detector, but not yet ready to spend a couple hundred bucks for one of the good ones. Tried using an old one my sister had, but that thing just kept going off every 5 mins and was pretty much useless.

Escort Passport 9500iX, it has GPS to recognize where you're getting the same exact signal... Pass it three times, auto mutes for just that ONE frequency and you won't have it go off anymore! (You can override it too, you can force it to ignore and unblock certain locations

More than likely they will never allow dectors, as it could reduce their revenue generator, state and local governments are already strapped for cash.

If they won't drop the legal tint limit from 50% to 35% we're never going to get legal radar detectors. :icon17:

Probably true...but it's worth trying. I think its also important to note that VA denied for months that they signed in a new law that allowed them to make you pay for a "20 over" speeding ticket for 3 years in a row. They denied that alligation for months in 2009 (or 2008) even to the press. VA residents called the BS flag that it was unconstitutional to confict anyone of the same crime 3 times. After a lot of investigation, Oh, suddenly we find out that the Fairfax court house needs 40 million in upgrades and one of the most expensive upgrades is the Traffic Ticket section- They pump people through there faster than McDonalds. Then the law was revoked and they had to pay people back the $ they had taken for a few years on the same conviction. They lied about it on TV and to its people. Dont get me wrong, I'm not against the VA state police or our local PD's. I just think I should be allowed to play by the same rules since their JOB is paid for and in respect to support me, the tax payer.
Ok, I just fell off my soapbox...I'm done. :)

I'd like to take this time to say F*** YOU, Fairfax County, and your personal property taxes. :bowrofl:

LMFAO! :icon18::icon18::icon18: That is why I moved to Fredericksburg, VA. :excited: Fewer tickets for local drives.

They tried this in 2010.

If Colorado and Washington can make recreational pot use legal...I would love to believe this stupid commonwealth could lift a ban on radar detectors.
