That's the one you want. I haven't heard of one failing yet.

Quick update. Called the dealer this morning and they refuse to an install aftermarket CSC. "They wouldn't be able to give me any kind of warrenty" - uh, news flash. Your warranty is **** already buddy. This is becoming an exercise in frustration.

 not the only game in town...try a different dealership...there seem to be a few out there that are known pains in the arse. but there are others who are great partners in keeping your car in good working order, and support the customer with great service!!

I wish it were so. They really are the only game in town in my area unless i want to try bringing it to another state and hope for better luck. I think part of the issue is exactly that too - they are so busy i dont think they mind tell you to take a hike. Just getting a quote on the work was like pulling teeth. Call every morning and ask again - "bob said he will call you back" - then try again the next day. Think Bob even acknowledged the lack of return calls when i finally get the bob-inator on the phone ? Nope. The Bob-ster acted like i was lucky to even being speaking with such a power wielding individual. The Bob-meister is good people tho. Real good people.

:tup:Depoint50 had to go to the next closest dealer, it's all in the effort you want to expend. Whats it worth to you?! I guess i am lucky, i have at least 4 within 75mi. They are all vying for business.

The recession killed all our dealerships i had 7 or 8 different brand dealers just in my town a few years ago - all gone except for a jeep dealer. This dealer is already 40 - 50 miles away. An hour drive anyway and i already was stranded once and had a $200 tow bill so i am not really willing to drive it much further than this. You are lucky you have choices - that usually means better prices and much better service or you go somewhere else. I'm jealous !

NEXT CLOSEST?!?!?! I towed it to a dealer 75 miles away. I probably passed 10 on the way, and there are probably 20 within a 75 mile radius...

Do what you gotta do brother! (not BC)
I'd drive or tow my car 75 miles for a free CSC install

blackcherry20 07-24-2013 02:31 PM

have an appointment for august 16th at my dealership-I am waiting on them to look at it. cannot leave Harry in unknown and possible enemy territory ;)
anyways, they assured me they would take good care of me...I have not been disappointed yet (but I havent really tried anything other than an oil change yet either)..well, they DID screw up floor mat orders. THREE times! ugh. ok-we won't think about that just yet.
glad I decided to wait on him though.

msbc- since the clutch issue at your auto-x event, has it re-surfaced during normal driving? :)

Well, you guys are nuts - how many $200 tows are you gonna pay for in order to get a $700 job for free. I hear what you are saying but i think you may feel differently if you were in the situation. I don't wanna bring it somewhere i dont know for one and i also dont wanna bring it to a yes man, spend extra money hauling it there, way more inconvienance getting it there and picking it up, and then finding out it's not covered anyway. I ran into that before back with my old 350z and a shady dealer. It's just a bad situation all around. I understand that a car consists of probably 100,000 parts and stuff happens but i think Nissan isn't handling this right. It's not a dealer issue. Nissan has this explicitly listed in the powertrain section of the warranty that pops up at the dealer as not covered. They went out of their way to state it isnt covered - like a business decision to avoid paying for a known issue.

estrov 07-25-2013 07:48 AM

Would this issue be covered under the CPO warranty? I don't know how this differs form the powertrain warranty, but its worth a try if you have such protection.

Update for those interested or experiancing this same issue:

I called Nissan consumer affairs (the number listed in the warranty booklet) and had them pull up the book and read the powertrain section on the phone with me. We had same book which was a pleasant surprise ! Was expecting an different version with exclusions in it but i digress... The powertrain section says "all internal parts except those listed in the not covered section" under transmission coverage. He read the not covered section aloud and it says NOTHING about excluding the slave and that it's covered. He gave me a case number and contact info. I then called the dealer and the gods were kind to me. The Bob-inator was on vacation and i was transferred to a woman who knew her stuff. To make a long story short, she thinks its in the nissan computer wrong because the slave in our cars is not dedicated, its integrated with the throwout bearing and therefor part of the powertrain and should be covered. So as of right now i am scheduled to have the work done under the powertrain warranty on thursday.

 Why does Nissan seem to make things so difficult sometimes?
