@m4a1mustang, excellent point. The OP should see if he can find a dealer that will let him take the car for a day or two. Put some miles on it and see if he can justify it to himself to make the switch. |
i talked it over with my father about what i should do. he said the 370z is the car to get. but he is a Japanese car enthusiast since the 70s. so hes bias as hell lol

I may have missed you saying this because i didn't want to read the whole thread, but what trim level / packages of a Z are you looking at? Base / Sport / Nav / Touring / Nismo?

but the ones in the current affordable sports are not at that level yet. |
Cool, sounds like you're making the switch for all the right reasons. Don't let this forums "cult of mustang" try to passively talk you out of it...

Hey Mike,
You gave me a few tips on the Camaro when I was in the market back in '11. I ended up with a Z of course. They're both nice cars. I think they both look sexy except the Z is hands down nicer on the inside. I think offering two engine packages is fine. After it all it gets more of them produced and that increases parts availability (benefits the Camaro more :p). But to me it wouldn't matter what other people do and I couldn't care less. If they offered a 4 banger 370Z (maybe a 120Z lol) who cares...I just wouldn't buy it. I think Transformers really helped Camaro sales... The Z is a great car. I wanted an automatic so the choice was obvious because the AT in the Z is wonderful. I have another manual car to play with and the Z is my commuter. Watch for possible oil consumption issues on '09-'10 models but not all of them have this issue. My '11 doesn't burn oil at all and has treated me well. Heck, it still has the new car smell. |

You may be able to get a new base 2012 in a few months for $30,000 if you shop carefully and bargain hard. I did in December '09. |
I wouldn't switch you are deep in it. Just losing money, unless you are that unhappy with it
|
I had a modded B6 S4 Audi with the V8 and at times I miss that power in my Z. But the light weight and handling of the Nismo is far better. I think I'll go GTM stage 1.5 and then I'll be really happy!

i want a car that is not so typical, and common. thats what i am going now. fast, sexy, rare. and of course affordable . also, most after market parts are sold to v8 owners. so the fact that there is v6s and v8s. do not do much for after market. only GM parts. |

not being truly happy, or saving money ? when i can afford to take a hit on parts and the car. |

When was the last time you drove around town and some random guy "Nice Car" or people walking by does a double take or some chick tells you, I bet you get all the girls with that car......this is something so common with the Z and I have not yet said anything about how it handles in the twisties.........

Wait till you get a Z and see all the women that are non enthusiast driving them, is that going to bug you as well?
FYI I know that there are some females that are enthusiast of the Z, but many are not. |
I would love to spend money into something that outstanding. we can find Camaro or Mustang every stoplight as you've been saying. What about the Z ? you bought a car worth than regular cars then you suppose to get outstanding outcome. Maybe, It's not about performance, but at least people looking at you and asking themselves. What is that nice car right there?

I had a '10 SS and i traded it on a brand new '10 Z with sports package. Sorry to say it, but I missed my camaro every single time I drove my Z. I still wish i wouldnt have gotten rid of it.

Next gen Z is unlikely to be available before 2016.
Relative to your Camaro, the Z will feel much more nimble, but also less torquey (of course, if you want to spring for FI, the sky's the limit). Stock (or lightly NA modded) the Z is a very capable all around sports car, but it is NOT a powerhouse, relative to a built V8 muscle car. I'd go with a 2012 over a 2013 -- the small differences between the two are mainly cosmetic, and the 2012's should be available for a few grand less. Test drive one and see what you think -- good luck! |

i really want to keep it in stock forum, after modding my camaro as much as i did. it turns into a weekend car. which is not what i want anymore. i want to drive a sports car everyday. and not worry about ****, to be put it in simple terms. IDK if you have modded a engine like that before. but one thing that they always say is. nothing is 100% bulletproof, and if you want reliability. keep it stock or very basic bolts ons. most of the time with good parts, tuner, INSTALLER. you will be fine. but i need to be able to take it to a Nissan dealership anywhere in my state, and not worry about getting something fixed. all they should be able to work with OEM parts. |

Test drive one though..and I would go with the touring over a base. The base seats are a bit too firm as a DD.
I had a '10 Roadster, it bit the dust, but that was because the dealership I bought it from owned it prior and bagged it. I wanted a Roadster over the Coupe as its just a more fun car to drive..but no roadsters were available. They gave me a '11 coupe and its nice, but I couldn't keep it stock - main reason is because the stock sound of a Z is..well not for everyone. Once you do the mods though it comes alive and well is just that - a muscle car :) Buy 2011 or 2012, touring with sports package and you'll be set, as for color its your choice. |

Most people wouldnt like to tell you it messed up their engine, because going FI in the first place is a big deal for a lot. But then again owning up to your mess is something a lot of people dont have the guts to do, even if there is no factual (tuning, abuse) reason why it happened.:driving: |
