Stillen vs Fast Intentions vs Invidia

I was wondering which exhaust to purchase out of these three. i'm looking for both some performance and loudness.

1. Invidia Q300
2. Stillen true dual exhaust
3. Fast Intentions

enkei2k 10-18-2012 06:27 PM

Lots of people tend to go with FI.

I'd suggest you to look through the intake/exhaust section and search around:

bigsix 10-18-2012 07:13 PM

many, many clips on Youtube.com: Check out 370z & G37 exhaust sounds

cooltoy 10-18-2012 07:13 PM

I liked Stillen initially, but I did not like the long tips. I am going with FI, plus those pipes look so mean.

tonybui 10-18-2012 07:18 PM

For looks and sound, I would go with FI

If you are tight on budget, you can go with Topspeed exhaust + stillen HFC
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoEt-lE1kmY

atx370z 10-18-2012 07:27 PM

TopSpeed + Berk HFC sounds like pure sex... best sounding combo I've ever had.

Stillen with HFC's is so raspy it's embarassing to drive.

Fast Intentions... Be prepared to wait.

Heard nothing but good about Invidia.

I currently have Berk and it's my favorite. Slight rasp at WOT around 4500 rpm... Otherwise sounds great, fitment is better than OEM and the tips are the best looking IMO.

Osiris 10-18-2012 07:53 PM

ok, so, i started out with the Stillen HFC and CBE because i have the Stillen SC. Let me just say, that, the Stillen exhaust has good volume.....but it is bad volume. In other words, it doesn't sound good! I have since switched to the Motordyne ART pipes and FI CBE and let me tell you, it is night and day difference! The exhaust note is soooooo much better! I have friends with Z's that have FI pipes and CBE and again, soooooooooooo much better!!!

I cannot vouche for ARK as i have not experienced it first hand.

:iagree: just watch out for tailpipes that rust quickly. FI is known for that. Rolled as opposed to flat tips are better.

And remember...opinions are like a$$holes...everyone has one.

Had my FI for 6 months now. Put about 8K miles on them. Not a spec of deterioration whatsoever, least of all rust. Check out the FI thread, there is not one complaint about rust or any other type of deterioration, on the contrary, every single post on there is complimentary for sound and looks. I agree on the wait, it's about a 10 to 12 week waiting period. That in itself tells you the system is outstanding.

Not sure where all the negative hype is coming from. Some guy posted on here his mechanic told him the welds rust on FI exhausts.. again, not true. Everything looks pretty darn shiny still. Installed them first week of April of this year, and have driven them all over, in rain conditions as well. VERY satisfied with looks and sound.

I don't own a Z anymore. Maybe I shouldn't have chided in on this thread(?). You will see that everyone who has a certain kind of exhaust will tell you it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Thus , the quoted comment:ugh2:

I have the F.I. exhaust and it is all stainless steel, end to end. The quality is top-notch.

:iagree: it's one of the best quality exhausts on the market. I have read through the whole FI thread and haven't seen any complaints of rust, but even if you do, there is a limited warranty on that.

How about performance gains? I care about that the most

And that will actually disapointing you the most... Don't expect the exhaust alone will give you much difference. Better air flow exhausts will gain a lot on turbo cars but not NA applications. They are all about the same. When you pick up an aftermarket exhaust on a NA car, you should only care about the sound and the look...

And for that matter, I will go for the Fast Intentions.

ubs234 10-19-2012 01:18 AM

well i know it wont give me much! but what are the expected hp gains?

around 20 whp with Fast Intentions if that's your first power mod. Stillen advertised 18 whp.

ubs234 10-19-2012 06:16 AM

Is it proven gain of 20whp for Fast intentions? Any one have results?

Yes, if you actually saw my post that responded to your question, you would have clicked on the link I provided, and see near the top of the intake/exhaust section this thread:

http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...continued.html

You would see pictures of the dyno sheet.

Come on now, do some looking around the forum.

NV370z 10-19-2012 08:49 AM

If you want performance gains and will doing future modding, you can get the invidia cbe and stillen g3's for approx the same cost as just a fi or stillen cbe. If budget is something to consider.

You'll see the most performance out of the Fast Intentions.

You'll want to read the thread as there are different variations.

12" or 18" resonators (which affect in cabin noise as well as noise in general)

Stainless Steel vs Carbon FIber Mufflers. The CF mufflers look sick, more stealth and allow a little more sound out, so a nice balance if u were to go 18" resonators (which are quieter but go with CF mufflers)

Anyways, its some good reading...go through the pages, get a feel for why people love it etc.

Chteelers 10-19-2012 12:41 PM

+1 for ARK GRIP. Great growling sound and cool blue tips.

nabenson 10-19-2012 12:46 PM

A buddy of mine has the blue-tipped ARK on a Hyundai Genesis (2013). It looks good, sounds good, and made good power. It's not a 370z but the product is very nice.

If you get the F.I. seriously consider the 18" resonator. I started with the 12" and ended up having to upgrade because it simply made too much noise too much of the time. It sounded great, but my hearing was taking a beating. There is no performance difference between the two. The 18" has the same great sound, but it's about 30% less loud.

forza370z 10-19-2012 12:58 PM

^^Yours is the carbon fiber or ss? Carbon fiber is slightly louder too. Performence wise, what's the difference between the stock Nismo and FI cbe? What your butt dyno tells you? Have you ended up with a new tune?

The FI Dyno chart shows about a 20HP gain. Couple that with a high flow intake, and together you probably would gain about 25HP. But this is not all - it's the throttle response that's gonna dazzle your senses. By allowing the engine to breath to it's capacity, the car will appear to just launch at the slightest accelerator pedal pressure.

Add to that the deep, but not obnoxious, throaty growl of the 18" Resonated FI Exhaust (with FI Resonated High Flow Cats, its much like a Ferrari I was told), and mirror like shine of the SS cans, and it becomes worth every dollar spent, and every minute of wait time...

Fast Intentions Non-Resonated CBE on my 370Z - YouTube

Haha, yes, forgot about that, most be the most beastly set up! Non resonated

I went with 18" resonators so that there wouldn't be too much drone in the cabin.

When I added the Motordyne ART Pipes, gave me back the low end torque I lost and more growl.

Mine is SS. TBH, I had already done intake and HFC before I did the cat-back so the gains were hard to tell. It feels like it has slightly better throttle response, but nothing like the gains I felt from the HFCs.

I have not tuned yet. That's the next step - I have the Motordyne intake manifold, HFC, Nismo R-tune intake, and the F.I. exhaust. I'm sitting at about 290whp (100 degree day in Dallas, TX). I expect to break 300 when it's all said and done.

ubs234 10-19-2012 02:26 PM

Will i be loosing torque by getting the fast intentions exhaust?

Yea..that's a load of BS..this is not an opinion..but FACT. I've had my FI set up for quite some time and live in Wa. St. next to the coast, probably the most unfriendly place for the car undercarriage. Weather hasn't even affected the CF on my mufflers! TOP QUALITY guys!
