370z Compared to G37s

Hey guys,

I am just wondering has anyone driven a 2009 G37s sport with 6spd that has also driven a 370z 6spd sport.

Is the handling of the G close to the Z or not?

I find I might want more room than I have in the Z and I am considering a G but I really don't want to give up the handling.

Don't want this to turn into which is better thread... they are both great cars just would like to know.

The best way to describe it is the G has a much more refined ride than the Z. It's smoother and much quieter. For daily driving you may actually prefer the G. The Z is much more spirited and noticeably quicker. I was torn between both cars when I purchased as well. I chose the Z mainly because of the look of the car.

Well I was trying to wait until I actuallly bought a Z before posting but I have tested both. Fly is absolutly correct. I am torn between the two but I just love the appearance of the Z and that's the way I am leaning. Things that may sway me to the G37 however are minor comfort/convienence features, ie. telescoping steering wheel and 8 way powerseats (vs 4 way POWER) and memory positioning. I'm 6 to 18 months away, so I have more than enough time to vassilate.

If you want a sports car get the Z - hands down its the better performing of the two. If you want an extremely spirited luxury sedan (or coupe of course) then get the G37. I was just "comparing" my 370Z with my friend's '07 G35 and the performance on the G35 is very very impressive as is the handling - its just more smooth or refined. A test drive will explain all....

If you need room for more than two its a no brainer.... if you don't its also a no brainer ;)

It's not quite as stiff or as harsh as the Z. The Z feels a lot more nimble as you would expect. If you're looking for something that's still sporty but more suited towards daily driving you can't go wrong with the G37S, IMO.

I'd drive the Z to the dealership and take one for a spin... the best way to compare!

I was in the same situation. I had my heart set on a g37. But I test drove the a and fell in love. LOL I'm not sure why, I think it's because I've been driving an rx7 for most of my life and the z felt just like it.

Thanks for the replies...

To make a long story short I did just that I drove to the dealer and test drove the G.

It was close enough for me, so I bought the G. Now to sell the Z.

They were giving $5000 off MSRP so I felt I got an ok deal.

They wanted MSRP for the vert's. They had two, no 6 spd's though. Talk about no trunk space with the top down... it was really tight.

Let me get this straight. You bought and own a Z. But, you decided to test drive a G37, and now you like it so much you bought it. Now, you want to sell the Z?:gtfo2:

(Sounds like a collosal waist of the depreciation, the dealer probably loves you!)

Some people have the money, and having the right car is worth taking a little bit of a hit! Don't knock.

WooZ 06-30-2009 11:27 PM

holy smokes man...but congrats on the G. I'm probably about a year away from saving enough for a down payment and am torn between the Z and G too.
