How can people be so Ballin in this economy? LOL

molamann 07-01-2009 02:58 AM

Slanging them yayo son.

Sashimi 07-01-2009 03:10 AM

I had to test drive both of them before I bought one. I was so close on buying the G but I had to test drive the 370z, now I'm here :icon17:

To me the reason I bought the Z was because the way I drive I felt safer in the Z lol. like I said I think I'm used the to RX7, throw your car where you want to go and it'll take you there. I didn't feel that way with the G, a lot of weight transfer.

I do want 4 seats tho, oh well that's what the GS I'll buy next year will be for. :p

Agreed. I dont care how much money you have, that is just irresponsible IMHO.

I don't see how it's irresponsible. You have to spend some time with the car to know if you're really going to like it. He probably isn't taking a huge hit on his purchase, anyways.

So you lose a few grand on the deal but you end up with the right car for you. Big deal.

I am still in that time period where I think about possibly trading the Z in on something else because every now and then I'm not sure if it's the right car.

Its not irresponsible, DigitalMan can do whatever he wants if he has the money. We all bought $35K-$40K cars that will lose most of their worth in just a few years, so all of us are losing money on these cars.

You hit that squarely on the head. Cars are not investments. Anything over $15K can be considered "irresponsible".

I had a Jetta for only 6 months before I got rid of it. Couldn't stand the lack of power. I understand his decision and I applaud him for helping out the economy!

There's a possibility that we early owners of the 370Z are going to be in better shape than most.

Already the Nissan 60% production decrease of the Z is partly to blame for the efforts to find certain color + option combinations. Another few months, and a few models in the most popular colors may be close to sticker for used -- especially if the '10 models have a 2-3% price increase with only minor changes.

It has happened before. No guarantees!

I understand that completely, I was in the same situation with a Ford F-150. Bought it, had it for 6 months and absolutely hated it, just not for me. I sold it and bought a new 05 350Z. I think that happens to most car-people at one time or another.

You make your own money, you have the right to do whatever you please with it. Period.

Here was my thinking pretty much.

I decided I did not need razor sharp handling, I needed more room. With the $5000 off MSRP the price of the G was pretty near what I bought the Z for. Basic money turns out to be about $70 more dollars a month in the payment. I gain more room, sun roof, dual climate controls, little higher quality in the interior. I lose handling and looks.

Obviously you can't go wrong with either of these vehicles, they are some of the best values on the road IMO.

My wife and I have had our hearts set on a G for about a year or so. I've driven the previous style, which by the way I think looks much sportier than the new style, and the new ones. The new style has a much better interior over the previous and the auto is almost like the Z. Back in march we go to the international auto show and we see the new Z and were blown away. Absolutely awesome inside and out. At this point we are not as excited about a G any more. About 7 weeks ago we finally got to test drive it and that was it. A week later we ordered one. For us it was everything we wanted, great performance, awesome styling inside and out without sacrificing too much refinement. I just find the new G's styling too conservative. The inside is a big improvement over last years, but still a little conservative imo. I think that was the intention of Nissan, offer a true sports car ( Z ) and a more conservative touring car ( G ). I don't think they want the two cars to go head to head with each other. Anyways I still don't have the Z yet, and just when I think I'm dealing with the wait and all, FricFrac brings his beautiful blue Z over to torment us :crying:.

This really sums it up right here. I think the main thing that turned me away from the G is the fact that a good friend of mine has one and I have seen it so much that I was tired of it. I'm sure the Z will lose some of it's lustre after a year or so.

The interior is a huge plus on the G. It is more than a little better quality. It is a huge upgrade. The drivers seat is actually 15 way adjustable. Small details, like the quality of the turn signal and wiper sticks are far superior to the Z. The quality of the leather in the G is far superior to that of the Z. The dash materials are better and there are other little details like cloth on the A-pillars as opposed to plastic covers.

i'll play devil's advocate - why not get a 335i coupe if you're even considering g37?

I'll play. To get the 335i with the same equipment you would pay through the nose. German cars are notorious for offering an attractive base price, but really slamming you on the options. There also wouldn't be any 5K off sticker with a BMW.
